Re: Challenge 839: Outside broadcast
It's still working for me Steve. Does anyone else find the same as Steve? |

Re: Challenge 839: Outside broadcast
Clicking the image does still open it in purplepoppadom, but the image there appears smaller than it does on the Forum - with no apparent way to make it bigger. And it looks like you've just started building the Wordpress site! |

Thanks Steve. I’ll have a look at the shadow issue. _________________ ![]() |

Ha, Steve you're sharp. Never thought you'd realise it was morse code for "News." Well done. The center piece distortion is nothing to look at. I had to reduce it so much and never put the love into it that I normally do due to the great distortion I was going to administer. An early camera of Gorskii's is a model I did ages ago for a challenge at Graphics.com, re the colour channels and Russia having colour photos 20 years before Kodak took the credit. The Kremlin and Buckingham Palace in the background. Why...I believe the powers that be would have driven the ability to spy on everything and therefor encouraged the development of visual media....just like today. Think of Gorskii. A cameraman "Outfitted with a specially equipped railroad car darkroom provided by Tsar Nicholas II, and in possession of two permits that granted him access to restricted areas and cooperation from the empire's bureaucracy." Watch out for David 007 Mac...lol. ![]() _________________ The grass is greener on the other side of the fence because there is more $hit there. |

Re: Challenge 839: Outside broadcast
Oh you cynic! He's the driver. Nothing more to do until time to pack up.
Yes to the interior. I was never happy with it but I couldn't pinpoint it. Spot on. However, I think I should take issue with matching the van to building verticals. The van is on a hill. On hills buildings are built vertical but parked vehicles conform to the slope. If you look at the bottom rear of the van it is aligned to the yellow line in the road. I think this is correct. Thanks Steve. Your comments always make me re-examine my work. Very good for me! _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 839: Outside broadcast
When I click in the forum image the new image that appears is in fact slightly larger. (20mm wider on my screen). Clicking again in that does not enlarge any further ..... but I suspect that may be because it's already at its native size. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 839: Outside broadcast
Steve, David, I don't get this at all. Whether I am logged into HTCPS or not I still get king sized images when I click on them with both my entries. Are both my images causing this problem? |

Re: Challenge 839: Outside broadcast
When I click on the image it opens in the Wordpress site, but the image has huge 150 pixel padding left and right. Which means when I open it on my laptop, which I use for writing up the FC, it still has 150px padding and that results in a tiny image. Perhaps lose that padding? |

Re: Challenge 839: Outside broadcast
OK here's what happens chez moi. I do not have Steve's web expertise but here is the best I can offer. Both your images this week are exactly the same size so the figures below hold true for both. If I download your image from either Wordpress or HTCP by right clicking I get a 3000 x 1300 pixel image. This is presumably the true size. In Safari with view set to Actual Size this displays in HTCP at 750 x 325 px. It remains this size no matter to what size I drag the browser window. If I drag the window really small then then the image gets cropped, still without changing size. Clicking in the image takes me to it displayed in Wordpress. In Wordpress there is NO consistent size. It relates entirely to the size of the browser window. As I drag and resize the browser window the image also changes size, but so does the black around it. In other words as I drag the window bigger the image gets bigger too but the black around it changes size in the same manner. Clicking in the image itself does not offer any size change option. These results hold true for Apple Safari and Google Chrome. I am using a 27" 5K display. That is 3200 x 1800 pixels. It is set to to Default resolution which displays equivalent in size to 2655 x 1440. That's all I can say I am afraid. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 839: Outside broadcast
Steve and David, I thank you both for your imput on this problem. I was exprimenting this week with images 3000 x 1300 px on Wordpress but it seems to be causing some viewers a problem. In the next FC i will try a smaller resolution. I am sure you will let me know if it is less than perfect. |

Re: Challenge 839: Outside broadcast
Nature of the beast. Since a gif will not support partial transparencies the software defaults to black when rendered for any pixels that are partial, and I was too lazy to choose some other color. If the background is one color, like a blue sky, then it is much easier to hide. The other animation program I used the image in will only support a gif as an additional layer, hence the problem. Thanks! |

Thank you Steve - yes, I was uncertain about the van and horizon. Nessie came as an OBJ from Free3D.com - I just applied some texture and lighting to her. _________________ Dorothy: Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore |
