I see Sarah and I had the same idea and like Sarah sorry I missed a few months but my wife was stricken with dehibilitating sciatic nerve pain on top of her Parkinson's disease and I became the sole caregiver with very little time to even turn on the computer. Things have improved somewhat so hopefully will be able to contribute a bit more.
Good Luck Sarah - very demanding task in trying times.

Very sorry to hear of your troubles - I have had chronic sciatica in the past and know how painful - not to mention how exhausting - it can be. Hopefully she will continue to improve

Oh Frank, I feel your wife's pain. It's the worst type of nerve pain anyone can experience and it can take you to a really dark place. I hope she continues to improve and you look after yourself too.

Beautiful colour palette and choice of music, This one has to be a personal favourite

Mariner Developments didn't disappoint Michael: your ability to "expand " space/vista never ceases to amaze me .

Michael, David, thank you. It was quite difficult to get the grime out of this photograph I expect Steve was well aware of that when he took it.

Steve, and everyone, I don't know why but when you first click on one of my panorama pictures to enlarge it you first get the same sized pic again plus a WordPress logo. I find that closing this and reopening it produces the desired rresult.

Mariner, not only is the vessels' restoration impeccable but it's the extension of the scene that gives it so much life. Beautifully done

Re: Challenge 841: Cruising Club
First to launch the boat this week was DavidMac, who took the Michael Sinclair approach - not blowing it up, but sinking it. Very neatly done, with a good reflection, but of course the real work here went into rebuilding the boat and dock behind. Immaculate, David. The tarpaulin cover in the second entry is splendid. Please don’t tell me you cut out all those eyelets and cords individually. A great fit. And I like the placement in the third entry, but I don’t think the boat is quite that big. A subtle change of name (and purpose) in the fourth entry, and it’s a very fine blend of the old with the new. Small technical point: coal is black, not white.

Good to see Ben Mills back on form after some bikini-free weeks. Excellent choice of people, and I really like the warm late afternoon glow you give your images.

Elephantine fun from lwc, with trademark flapping birds. I like how low the boat is sitting in the water, the tip of the elephant’s tail, and of course the rippling reflections. And the elephant even breathes!

An extraordinary setting from Mariner, with totally rebuilt boat whose passenger seems oblivious to the danger. Doesn’t she know you shouldn’t stand up in boats? A truly splendid second entry, where you’ve really surpassed yourself. Not only two beautifully rebuilt boats, but the seamless extension of the background is extraordinary. Outstanding, Michael.

A Disunited Kingdom boat from Josephine Harvatt, and there’s Boris without a paddle. Of course in that sitting pose, these days he should be wearing woollen mittens. I like the faded Union Jack on the back.

…and a tweak to both Mariner and Josephine from DavidMac. How very fitting!

A fully on-topic michael sinclair, with a packed lifeboat being ignored by the passing cruiser. Very fine work, Michael. I like how you’ve incorporated the engine on the back, and of course the bobbing in the waves. And a cute second entry! And just when I thought we’d seen the black of him, along comes the third entry… nice work, although catastrophically off-topic.

Good to see srawland back with this month’s meme. I hope you’ve scheduled one of those tests for yourself. Welcome home.

And a welcome return from Frank, channelling the same Bernie meme. I like the axe, the sunk boat and the nicely rebuilt boat behind it. So sorry about your wife, Frank, but glad to hear she’s improved.

It looks like tooquilos has gone all Vietnamese on us, to the extent that I can’t see the original boat in there at all. But maybe all will become clear… beautiful movement in the animated version, and have you rebuilt the boat as a 3D model?

It’s full steam ahead from JimH, with a new cockpit (is that what it’s called? Mariner?) and a glorious steam-powered engine. The foaming water at the back is a nice touch, as is the mug on the edge. I like the ducks, and the new lettering. Very good work, Jim.

Thank you. It was as you surmised quite tircky restoring the background.

Made one complete group of eyelet hook and two cords and ALT dragged it in the picture to duplicate. Then tweeked a bit to stop it looking too cloned.

but I don’t think the boat is quite that big.

Yes. You are quite right. Silly of me.

Small technical point: coal is black, not white.

Um .... Er....... Ashes?

Thanks Steve. At first sight I was bit stumped by this one - but, once I started, suddenly it got be fun.

Re: Challenge 841: Cruising Club
Thank you Steve Yes I made the raft in 3D but didn't feel happy with it as the main feature so stuck it in the background.
