Re: Challenge 857: On the buses
Afraid I missed the bus this week. Been busy doing a clean install on my iMac and then going through my external drives, to get rid of duplicate files, etc, and renaming the photos. Good time to do it as I have started a new Cloud backup and had a horrible cold. Some great entries good to see some people are still feeling inspired. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Re: Challenge 857: On the buses
The first bus driver this week was DavidMac, with a complex piece of flag wrapping. That must have taken a while - and yes, the flag almost fits, but the strong horizontal red bar does highlight some perspective issues. Do you have Photoshop CC? Image Warp seems the way here, especially since you can now add multiple distortion meshes. And I did enjoy the second entry - particularly Boris’s sparky fate. Much ingenuity and near-perfect perspective matching in the third entry, with added trolley bus contacts: I have to admit, I didn’t realise we used them in London (but then I was only 3 when we stopped). I enjoyed lwc's charging bus, with its tinted windows and sparks. I particularly enjoyed the flashing orange lights. The second entry would require some clever paint! A fun reply to DavidMac's Boris entry. Elementary indeed - a great pun in the third entry, with well-chosen advertising and added headlights. I enjoyed the Voltvo branding, although it did spawn 39 pins from DavidMac, followed by another 14 from GKB. And just when you thought it was all over… a moose-powered bus in the fourth entry! Brilliant! Great relocation from GKB, and fine traditional branding. Now what is it about the people that makes them look too close to the window? Just too bright, perhaps? But overall, thoroughly convincing. Sparky electricication from tooquilos, with rather beautiful special effects. Great to see them coming to life in the animated version, and the dancing alien is a treat. Splendid. I see Mariner's bus has been requisitioned by the army, with its matt paint (as promised) and discarded windows. There’s some serious fire power there, Michael - I particularly like the detail of the windscreen wipers. Doesn’t the rear gunner get a seat? |

Re: Challenge 857: On the buses
Thanks, Steve.
I didn't notice that until it was nearly too late to bother, so I just let it go. |

Re: Challenge 857: On the buses
That was my point of departure. It got the basis done but it is very difficult to tweak even very fine meshes without affecting other parts of the mesh slightly. Curing one tiny problem would produce another down the line. Final tweaks were done mostly with Liquify and Smudge tool. I was well aware when I posted that I hadn't fully succeed but I had reached a point where I was going in circles chasing my own tail. Fun time this week with, on the face of it, a rather unpromising subject. Funny how they are often the one's that get us going! _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
