Re: Challenge 864: Storming the embassy
Thanks Steve. The only difference between my two posts was the addition of the final scene where the spaceship is returning to its home base. I figured that that would suggest the only reason that the aliens would travel all the way from beyond the Andromeda Galaxy was just to destroy the embassy and go home. I Point taken about the dirtying up of the spaceship but unfortunately I didn’t have Ron Howard’s time or budget ![]() I used Google Earth for the static overhead images to zoom in. For some reason I didn’t think of a video until afterwards. I actually created an animation a couple of days ago and was most impressed with what can be done. Shame I didn’t think of it at the time. I had great fun with this one. _________________ Time flies like an arrow but fruit flies like a banana. |

Thanks Steve, found the trebuchet in a green screen clip and extracted just that one sequence, as per the font I kept the same at the end to match earlier fonts.( my reasoning although it did cross my mind) Really enjoyed your 10 Mistakes Clip - I already knew most if not all but due to fading memory cells often need to be reminded. Really like your new site - fantastic. WOW - great cutouts which I'm sure to use. |

Re: Challenge 864: Storming the embassy
Thanks Steve. I found this an odd one to deal with.
The genre is of course martial arts - but far removed from the normal output of this genre. It is like no other martial arts movie I can think of aside, perhaps, from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. It is part fantasy, part legend. It is very reminiscent of Kurosawa's Rashomon with it's different versions of the same event surrounded by truth and half truth. In Hero these are echoed by colour styling in photography, costumes and sets, so each variation on the theme has its own colour code. Visually it is a true feast in a class of its own. I can't really think of a comparison. Do try and a get a copy if you can Steve. I think you would love it. Here is the scene which I linked in my mind to trebuchets and ballistas. Best with the sound up a little bit. On the big screen it's really quite overpowering. And here is what put me in mind of crossing the moat. Which is why I put the little splashes there. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
