Very smooth Loyd .... but puzzling.

I don't know you you work your animations but I get the impression that, with the exception of the bird, you have created the entire thing as a still image and 'flowed' the background to create the impression of movement. It's odd because it doesn't extend behind the driver and windscreen. On the other hand, if I am right, then why the dissolve and slight movement on the car. Surely it could have stayed 'static'. I really like this but it poses lot's of questions ..... of which the last is 'is that you at the wheel?'. Looks to me as if it definitely could be.

The answer to your questions is 'yes'... with the exception of the eagle, it was a static image. The flow generator has a lot of issues, you just can't get very close to something, like the windscreen, without it 'flowing' as well. The car could have stayed static but the drifting left to right is important for the overall animation, at least I think so. The dissolve and slight movement is an attempt to smooth out the loop transition. That is me with my 'pandemic' beard... I've shaved since then...lol.

Here is the static image:

I have reworked the animation, left out the eagle and the flashing emergency blinkers on purpose. In the rework, I completely 'flowed' the background movement, then added the car as a separate gif. Next added the wheel-spin and left to right drifting movement. Also I went to ninety frames, a six second animation with a two second loop transition to make the loop as smooth as possible. The revision is in a separate post.

Thanks for your questions and critique, I always appreciate everyone's comments, positive or negative. They help me think of ways to make improvements.

Good work from everyone closing the bonnet (or hood for our mid-western chums :w00t )

Frank I do like way you have created the vent on the side of the bonnet and Anna I note that you have switched on the headlights.

Loyd I like the animation even though I have had to book an appointment with my optician after watching it a couple of times

Michael - on reflection I knew you could do it

I know Gordon, think how I feel having to watch it over and over while trying to get the timing to work properly...

Frank. To my eye, except for a teeny mismatch of blue, that looks about as perfect as it gets

This is way off topic .... but it is Steve's original car re-worked.

Re: Challenge 868: Close the car
Hello,
I regret this isn't an entry ,but I had to show how the louvres in the bonnet are made at the Morgan factory that I went around a few years ago.
The louvres are all hand made, hand marked out and pressed out using the fly-presses shown in the background.
I could never justify buying a Morgan but I still admire them.
All the best from Neale.

Re: Challenge 868: Close the car

Fabulous entries this week.

Mariner - brilliant restoration! I laughed at Harry answering the call of nature
Michael Sinclair - Fabulous.
Loyd - Perfect
David - I love pimp my ride. What a wild car! And as far as my driverless hover car, that's what make it so amazing. There's not another car like it
Frank - Perfect restoration.

Neale- good to see your pics. Very interesting.

David, I forgot to mention that your ability to reconstruct the top part of the Morgan has not gone unnoticed.
