Re: Challenge 883: Malta at war
I know. It is extremely difficult (as I am sure you know) to change the effect of sunlight on the human body so it is coming from another direction. I found one way which worked fairly well: invert all the shades of the body, then match the flesh tones using, say, Match Colour, so that they look natural again, then fix the rest. It doesn't always work well, and, as usual, I had already wasted many hours trying to find a theme which I liked, so this time i just stuck her in and hoped for the best. Not very good, but it takes hours to find these people in the first place.
Oops, I missed that.
Not guilty. I just measured it again. It's an optical illusion.
Damn. I missed that completely.
Absolutely not! It's what I want from you. A bit of praise from time to time is very nice, though too much is a bit sickly. But honest criticism is something I value, because it helps me improve. Keep up the good work! |

Thanks Steve, this one was difficult locating characters : as far as Eisenhower sitting in the back office I thought it was okay as he was twisted sideways looking out into the plot room. The barely visible man on the left is hollering a message to him. That’s my story. |

Well thank you Sir! In all fairness I may be said to have an unfair advantage in this respect. Lighting was my profession for well over fifty years. When I see an empty image such as this I do exactly what I would when I go onto an empty unlit film set. I imagine in my mind how I want it to look. Once that vision is clearly established I start to work out what lamps I will need and how to place them. I have developed my own personal lighting techniques in Photoshop. The techniques are quite different from placing lamps but the principle holds true. I try to import figures and objects as flat lit as possible so that I can impose my own lighting on them. Sometimes of course that's not possible and I end up with conflicts that I have to (not always successfully) work around. Glad you liked it. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Thanks Steve - perhaps someone sawed the table legs off? Interesting point about the shadow - I read the image as her outstretched arm hovering a couple of feet above the board and pointing at something in the distance hence my error - not saying it was in the right place anyway mind! _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |
