David I really like your night time scene with its shadows and highlights and reflections. It's the exact opposite of stormy, but who cares?

Thanks Michael. I like it too despite it's well documented shortcomings.

Re: Challenge 956: The cruel sea
This is one of those self imposed technical exercises I set myself sometimes when I can't think of anything better to do.

Been fiddling with it forever trying to get it right and I can't pretend it's as successful as I would have liked ............. but it's well up to presentation.

Again, very inventive David, but what I want to know is how did you get the boat through the narrow bottleneck?

Great entries Loyd, love the flowing sails
Beautiful Japanese reproduction David as is the night scene and Ship in Bottle
Great detail Mariner, lovely image
Very rough seas Michael S. as clarified in Entry #3

David. I started doing a ship in a bottle but got distracted with a storm in a teacup. When I saw your entry I decided not to continue with mine.

Sorry to have discouraged you. If its any consolation it was bloody hard.

I think " Storm in a tea cup." must relate to England's obsession with a good 'cuppa'. Here its "Une tempête dans un verre d’eau.".

Thanks David.

For your own ship-in-a-bottle try a brighter more interesting background. That should bring it to life. Try putting it on a shelf in a room.

To be honest the interest for me was creating the glassware rather than the image as a whole. The glass is to a large extent a product of what is behind it. If I changed the background to light then the glass would start to become dark in front of light instead of the present light in front of dark and the entire bottle would have to be rebuilt. It's much harder than it looks so I'm settling for what I have!

A slight adjustment for perspective and a few edits for scale...
