Have to admit that never occurred to me!

This is a very unexpected and clever re-build Michael. Because it's so good I'm going to be a teeny bit picky and say, to my personal eye, there is something not quite right about the back of the neck but I can't, for the life of me, put my finger on why I feel that or what it might be. So you can probably write the comment off to my fevered imagination.

Motion blur is something I try often and abandon often. Somehow I've never quite been able to get the hang of it.

Can't get much more subjective than a motion blur image... I suspect that you are being far too critical of your own work.

Re: Challenge 1102: Joe's new motorbike
David, thank you for the praise. This was easily one of the most difficult Challenges I have ever attempted.
Where do I put an ugly, noisy, smelly chunk of metal except in an ugly, noisy or smelly place, like on a motorway, or in a ghetto, or in a gathering of ugly, noisy, and smelly people, Hell's Angels maybe.
Steve asked us to cover his son's face and move him to somewhere exotic. I guessed that I was on a loser after I had spent hours surrounding him with Maypole dancers, thugs in leather jackets, and beautiful desert scenery and I didn't like any of my creations.
On Tuesday I decided to take him off his motorbike and get him to stand up straight. Together, these actions kept me busy for about 20 enjoyable hours. Today, Thursday, I had to go for a Covid booster at 9 am so I wanted the job finished. I put in a background from my library then realized that Joe needed to be looking down so I bent his head. This didn't look quite right because his neck needed to be curved and his head rotated slightly. But I was out of time, so I had to leave it there and publish. Thanks for your comments David. From this Challenge I once again realized how difficult it is to manipulate parts of a human being without them looking unnatural. No targeted AI was used in this picture.

Our photographer kept the shutter speed and is learning to pan the camera.

David - your comment forced me to throw this alternate version together this morning.

Sorry Steve for so many, I got carried away...

Frank and Loyd great use of motion blur quite differently.

It's the flying dirt added to the blur that makes your's work so well Frank.

The nice thing about blurring the whole image Loyd is that, unlike blurring the biker, the blur doesn't have to stop and fade away.

Re: Challenge 1102: Joe's new motorbike
Thanks David, I used Path blur, added more debris with a debris brush and used some masking , and as is obvious the new 3d Rotate tool.
My older Mac with an older OS (Ventura 13.7. doesn't accept some of the new AI stuff. Waiting to purchase a Mac mini as soon as the M5 chips come out.Won't allow me to use the Remove tool.

I enjoyed this challenge, and learnt a lot.
Danseys Pass, a scary road to drive on.

Re: Challenge 1102: Joe's new motorbike
First to jump on the bike this week was DavidMac, with added helmet… but problems doing the cutout? I enjoyed the drum thing, whatever those are called, the perspective on the bike working surprisingly well in this context. What’s that four-wheeled thing with teeth at the bottom? The safari entry is very neat, especially the wheel spin. There’s something about the rhino, though. Is it just too crisp? Would soften the edges help? I really like the game entry, with its handmade pixel art. Did you have to draw that? Or just pixellate the bike? A perfect fit either way.

A movie classic from lwc, making an apt background. Of course, you really should raise those handlebars by a foot for the true Easy Rider experience. Do you have the latest Photoshop? Harmonise would have done a good job on that bike here. The Welsh countryside is charming, apart from all those tiny sheep. Does wool shrink when it rains? I like Oklahoma, although a shot with the road at an appropriate angle might have worked better. Great lighting in the African entry. Looks like there’s a good shadow too. I couldn’t locate the cobbled street, but do have to point out that Joe is now rather too small for the scene, and should surely be rather darker than that. I like the fact that you’ve gone to the trouble of reversing the logo in the back home entry, good attention to detail there. But (a) I’d never wear a green shirt, and (b) it’ll be a cold day in hell before I ride a motorbike. Some interesting motion blur on the grassland… it has the look of the Starship Enterprise about to enter Warp speed. Of course, another way to do motion blur is to blur the background!

At first glance I thought Ben Boardman’s island race entry was set on the Isle of Man (known for its bike race), but this is Australia… which island would that be, then? A good tonal match between the bike and the background.

A tremendous flurry of earth from Frank, neatly enveloping the bike… very well composed. As a pedant, I must point out that if the dust is that blurred then there should be some motion blur on the bike as well, or at least some spin on the front wheel. Your second entry is astonishingly good. A fantastic new viewpoint, clearly thanks to Rotate Object, but it’s that foreground flurry of dirt that really makes this one sing. Knockout stuff.

Very entertained by tooquilos's suit of armour – now that should do the job! And very nicely posed on the bike. The foreground dust works especially well to blend the scene together. I like the variety of helmets in the animated version: I think the diving helmet is my favourite. Nice work.

I like that Ant Snell has set the scene in La Rochelle, with a very francophone Joe complete with stripy shirt, beret and onions. Is he supposed to be running over the girl’s foot? The carousel entry is glorious, the bike perfectly inserted in there, and the lens flare adds a huge amount to the image. Good call. Hate to say it, but the AI version really is very good. Now that’s one way to pick up girls.

A cleverly modified arm from dwindt, and a very neat distortion on the bike. I like all the dust, but – as with some others – a bit of wheel spin would have added to the realism. Clever turning the same bike pose into a wheelie!

I’m seriously impressed that Vibeke has managed to find a road at exactly the right angle, with Joe perfectly positioned here. Am I right in thinking Rotate Object had a part to play? And perhaps a side order of Harmonise? Very fine work. I like the Danseys Pass entry, again wholly convincing. The cloud of dust behind the bike is an excellent touch. I don’t know what you were doing when you were away from the forum, but you clearly haven’t lost your Photoshop skills!

Clearly a huge amount of work has gone into Mariner's ingenious entry, from rebuilding the bike after taking Joe off it to repositioning the arms and replacing Joe’s hands. It’s very well done, apart from the fact that the bike is now too small – or Joe too big. But so easy to fix!

Splendid work this week.

Thank you Steve.
I agree about the wheel spin. I do my wheel spin manually but found the twisting of my hand too painful at the moment, so I left it as is.

Too lazy to bother for what was just a rather feeble joke ........

"Wall of Death" was the name I remember from my younger days.

What’s that four-wheeled thing with teeth at the bottom?

No idea. It was in the photo already. Some kind of one man mini vehicle. Presumably it takes its turn on the wall.

The There’s something about the rhino, though. Is it just too crisp?

Could be. I did struggle with him a bit and never felt I'd quite got it right.

...... with its handmade pixel art. Did you have to draw that? Or just pixellate the bike? A perfect fit either way.

The scenery was assembled mostly by cut, paste and clone from bits of stuff found online. For Joe and bike I had to first hand draw a black outline, then I pixellated and used extreme Unsharp Mask to make the pixellations pop. Same principle for text too, but with yellow outline.

This was more fun than I expected. I'd be curious to hear Joe's reaction to our various liberties.

Thank you Steve, it's good to be back. You are spot on with Rotating object and harmonize, such a great combo. As from finding the right road, I have lots of photos of NZ roads from Peter's and my trips. The Dansey's Pass was taken by me in 2015 on an iPhone 6, through the windscreen while driving (slowly).
