I'll take that as a compliment! The sparks were drawn with a 1 pixel pencil in two colours on two layers with an Outer glow layer style added to each. The layers were then merged and tweaked with Hue/Saturation and blurred a bit.

I have to admit that if I'd had a 'lightning' plug-in to hand I would have used it. I wasn't particularly happy with my attempt, but it was the last thing I did on the image and it was getting near deadline time!

Thanks Steve! I finished putting the layers of my pic together and then remembered the plane should have some motion blur. In fact the plane and pilot have different amounts in order to conserve detail in the pilot's face - the plane has 10 (pixels?), the face has 5.

Thanks Steve but in all actuallity the original background sky that I used was split just like that the only difference was I added a cloud layer that was a hint brighter above the plane but the horizen line stayed the same throughout....I will remember what you said though about changing it to diagonal next time.
