Great victim Kate! Where did you find her?

Ted.

Scanned her from one of my husband's very old art photography magazines, called Zoom. I don't think it's still published now. I added the blood, as she only had a tiny drop dribbling from her mouth. The attacker is from Steve's Full Montage site.

Poirot announced triumphantly in his Belgium tones "I suspect murder is afoot!"

and was promptly eaten!

Poirot soon regretted replacing Hastings with Dubba, who was eager to start a new career.

Very nice James. James, is the man in the green trench coat making a rude gesture to the doorman??

Neal, great how you have done the caution tape around Mr Bush!

Just the right expression of enthusiastic idiocy - Bush would make a great Hastings

Re: Contest 225: Murder mystery
It seems there's nothing like a good murder to spark off the imagination - and we've seen plenty of that this week.

First to take up the magnifying glass was Philbo, with a dark view of a truly scary mansion - horrors are going on behind those windows. Great blood spatters on the steps give this an additionally spooky air. A fine 1930s policeman in the second entry - and is that a seance going on in the upstairs window?

A period car from mguyer adds to the sepia feel - but watch those perspectives, Marty: we're looking up at the car, but straight on at the scene behind. I like the view of Poirot in the window, and the new lettering works well (but shear, rather than rotate for the right angle). I like the second entry - but what's going on at the bottom of the image?

Funny stuff from Josephine Harvatt, with a blood-spattered Poirot - neatly matched by the blood in the window upstairs. But it's the second entry that really ties it all together, with all the clues cunningly concealed. Some great detail - the jagged snip in the top of the newspaper clipping, the picture frame's shadow - add greatly to the sense of fun. Good work!

There's a Magritte-fueled flavour to Jota120's entry, with a variety of references coming together. An intriguing image. A surreal second entry - but if you're going to take someone out of their clothes, you really need to build the back of the hat! I like the way the egg has leaked on the third entry. Interesting fourth entry - but I'm having trouble seeing how that window relates to the interior of the room. It seems there's no wall behind it! Incidentally, we try to limit ourselves to two entries.

Nick Curtain has swapped Poirot for Bela Lugosi - and his three sisters, gazing out of the window. Great lighting and mist, and the half-seen bat is a very neat touch.

A fun-packed scene from vibeke, with flooding turning the view into something of a tropical paradise. Some great figures here - and that wouldn't be the Flaming Pear Flood filter, by any chance?

High drama from Wayne, with an image that could make a great theatre poster. Note the different quality of the blood stains on the shiny card surface, and on the jacket back behind: very clever work here. Excellent.

I like the idea of Poirot completely ignoring the activity in brewell's entry, Some great figures here: the man lying on the ground is a great view, and the one tucked behind the railings fits perfectly. Great choice of lettering for the apartment block, too - very good.

Dazzlingly good work from tooquilos, with a host of TV sleuths gathered together: good to see House, Columbo and Kojak in there, as well as James Stewart in Rear Window. Of course, it's the animated version that really brings it all to life, with shadowy goings-on behind the windows and the hanging woman revealed as a levitating Mary Poppins. Gorgeous.

A neatly assembled cast of characters from Ben Mills - and I like the distant Hastings here. My only issue is with the scale: those people would never fit through the doorway! Look at the height of the steps they're standing on, and imagine them walking up them. Excellent new lettering, though.

Extraordinary work from michael sinclair. Matching the position of all the people in the coronation to fit on the steps must have been hugely difficult - and the texturing of the background to match the painting is excellent. But where did you find this different view of the building? And the additional view in the second entry? A tremendous reworking on the third entry.

Some distinctly modern photographers from katew - but a fantastic murder scene behind. Where on earth did you find that woman? A great pose!

All set up for the shoot in Deborah Morley's entry - and a great cast of characters. Isn't that Rolls Royce a little too small, though? And Poirot a touch too big?

Fantastic work from The Mad Lep, with tremendous overgrowth and some excellent detail - the skeleton, the boarded up window, the missing letters. Very entertaining!

An exuberant entry from gaoxiguo - I especially like the cracked pavement. Incidentally, the captions reads "Through on-line translation of the picture did not they get to know its origin and meaning of historical events, was free to modify" - we can see the problem with online translations!

I've been staring at Eggbox's entry for some time, but I'm really having trouble deciphering the meaning. A load of Sell signs, and a murdered leek. I;m sure there's a clever pun in here somewhere - put me out of my misery, Ted!

An entire TV episode from james - I particularly like the actions of the doorman. But what is he carrying in the final frame? And who is pointing the gun?

Truly spooky work from maiden, with Alien, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and other screen monsters converging on a rather smug Poirot. Excellent lighting - I particularly like the light behind the railings on the left - and "Court Redhanded" is brilliant.

A great eye movement from Neal - although I'd have raised the eyebrows a little to accentuate the expression. A great background scene, complete with blood spot markers - but it's the treatment of Bush that really brings the fun to this one. What on earth are you going to do when he's out of office, Neal?

Hugely enjoyable this week!

Its a homonym. Poirot was a French speaking Belgian. Poirot = poireau, a leek. Poireau and his little grey sells.
