Thanks Wayne,
Glad it gave you a smile. I must admit I didn't think of the teletubbies. It has been one of my pleasures in life to have only seen that once

Earlier versions was not really finished. Here is the final version. Not sure could have completed with limited time. The wheels now visible after growing road foreground. Added another bubble which I really wanted to add. It that was missing earlier and left the composition showing it I feel.

Re: Contest 231: Concept correction
Let me begin this week by saying this: I'm incredibly proud of you guys. When I set this Challenge I really thought it was so difficult we'd only get half a dozen entries. The quality, skill and imagination shown in this week's work has been astounding.

First up was GKB, with a lunar lander that shows a good deal of style. A great transparent window effect, and perfectly rotated wheels. Great touches, too, such as the hard-edged shadow with built-in transparency. My only small issue is with the brightness of the front of the car, which contrasts too strongly with the deep shadow in front. Love the energy of the second entry - that's a lot of distorted cars!

Some neat blurring action from Lexus, as the car appears to spin out of control: I like the way it's misplaced across the road. Shouldn't the wheels have shadows beneath them, though? And there is something rather cute about the panda.

Fantastic positioning from Steve Mac, who's spotted the extreme close-up perspective of the original photo (I was very close to the car) and provided a background to match. Excellent transparency in the windshield, too, with great reflections. Superb, Steve.

A first entry from Jeepy, with a fiery Bush-powered car hovering over the city. It's a nicely constructed piece, with good transparency in the windows; the subtle recolouring in the second entry adds tremendously to the sense of place - a very wise change. Bienvenue au forum, Jean-Philippe.

I really like the rebranded batmobile that The Mad Lep has come up with: great colouring, and the bat logo fits perfectly. Some slightly awkward perspective here, though, as we're looking down on the car but up at Batman: tricky one to fix, this, without photographing the batboys especially. And great wheel rotation in the second entry, as far as it goes!

The cartoon quality of Wayne's entry is superb: I'd really like to know what combination of filters you used to get such a crisp edge. The adaptation of the wheels into rocket jets works particularly well. Are the Jetsons just a touch small for the vehicle, though?

Some great detailing from Nick Curtain, with the position of the stickers and, especially, the quality of the glass. You're right, though, the salesman does appear a little too small in this scene - and yet his head seems of a size to match the headrests. I think the issue here is to simply adjust his size until he looks right, and not too pay too much attention to the reference details.

A sparkly entry from stefan, with added highlights that give the car a real lift With neatly rotated wheels and shading to match the lighting direction, this is a classy piece of work. I wonder, though: shouldn't the reflection on the windscreen be curved?

A single image masterclass in continuous animation from maiden: look how seamlessly that background slides past, aided greatly by the slight jiggling motion of the car. And notice, especially, the genius of the reflected white stripes and road edge moving in the opposite direction! Love the leaning-back position of the dodo, it really makes him look proud of his vehicle. Becky, this is brilliant.

A charming cartoon entry from Josephine Harvatt, with a fantasy landscape to match the anthropomorphic car. Subtle smoothing of detail on the wheels and body, too: Median filter? Plus some hand work?

A touch of fantasy from brewell, whose car seems to be piloting itself away from its yoga-practising owner. A good sense of perspective with the relatively larger front wheel: and the green interior glow is a very convincing touch. Great reflection on the glass - good work, Bruce.

There's cute and there's cute, and then there's vibeke's entry, which takes cute to a whole new level. It's absolutely beautifully realised, of course, but there is an underlying feeling of nausea when I look at this picture... but then maybe I'm not the target market for Barbie merchandise?

Fabulous work from Dek_101: the position of the girl and dog are perfect, and the way they and the car are part sunk into the sand is beautifully created. Excellent work! Now if only the girl had a reflection in that shiny car...

Our second new member this week is nerdtron, with an Out Of Bounds view of the car breaking through the screen. Great shading, with fantastic attention to detail - the rotation of the wheels, the thumbnail view of the scene in the Navigator window, the cartoon sign... very nice work. The only thing left to do here is to take out the original background through the car windows, and you're there. A terrific first entry: welcome to the forum, Neth!

A cute Scalextric approach from katew - I particularly like the Playmobil character driving the car, a nice touch. I take your point about the front far wheel, Kate: couldn't you just have copied the near wheel behind the car for that one? And, er... is that a bit of the original background I can see through the window?

I'm intrigued by michael sinclair's propeller, which seems to pulsate without spinning: what's holding the car up there? Cool new wings and tail fin, and I like the passing cloud. Who's the pilot? He does look awfully young...

A parent and child pair from gaoxiguo, with a fantasy background. Good new wheels, and the colour choice is appealing!

A bit of road rivalry from tooquilos, with a tricky job making the car come round the corner. It's the cartoon character of the car that's hugely appealing here, along with the reference to the Cars movie. And the flash adds a fabulous soundtrack.

Our third new member this week is darkdemon, with a hugely impressive entry. There's a terrific underwater quality to the treatment of this car, that fit perfectly into its surroundings. The transparency is perfect, and the result is a truly intriguing image. Fantastic work, Joe - and welcome to the forum!

Fantastic respray work from Deborah Morley - with excellent reflections. For those from outside the UK, the driver is motoring journalist Jeremy Clarkson, known for his outspoken antipathy to environmental issues (at least when it comes to interfering with his driving pleasure). A really cute entry, Deborah, although perhaps the butterfly shadows are a touch too strong.

Three bubble cars and a range of additional bubbles from Jota120 - and very fine work it is, too. Perfect perspective, and the shine on the windscreen is beautiful: I love the way the parrot's leaning out of the window, too. An excellent idea, perfectly realised - especially with the revised second entry.

A custom conversion from powerslave - and what a terrific piece of work. The neatly sliced-off roof, power wheels, exhaust and fire decal match the driver and passenger well. Great detail here, too, in the shadow of the arm on the edge of the car, and the clever interpretation of the shadow of the exhaust. A very consistent, well executed piece of work, Brendan, and one that certainly earns you an overdue title. So, let's see... since you're from Australia, I think this one has to be Custom Cobber. Nice work, mate.

A good setting from Ben Mills, with terrific glass quality and a good choice of driver. And it goes without saying that the wheel rotation is spot on! But is the car a little too small in the scene? The driver behind is much larger, it would appear: I'd say take this up about 20 per cent for a perfect fit.

I love the static entry from james: a perfect choice of shot, the car's perspective blending immaculately into the background here (and I like the rural driver). The subtle oil slick in the animated entry is great - but should the cars be rather larger as they get closer to us?

Outstanding work from everyone this week. A huge pleasure to view them all.

Re: Contest 231: Concept correction
Thanks Steve,

I agree that there has been some excellent work this week with this one.

I did a version with the front of the car in deep shadow just like the LEM in the background but it didn’t look good at all so I decided to leave it as is.

With the roller coaster I tried to see if I could string all the cars out and then distort the merged image. That just was not going to work so I ended up distorting each car (and its blur) individually.
