Re: Contest 241: Family resemblances
Bit rushed again this time and a bit like Nick, not sure I should contribute (for nice reasons). To small, but at least took Steve's mother somewhere nice and relaxing. (And yes it is manipulated! Difficult to see (good and bad?) ![]() ![]() |

Re: Contest 241: Family resemblances
I had second thoughts about setting this week's Challenge, but I have to say you've all been remarkably restrained. First to attempt the Challenge as a time-travelling Ben Mills, with a youthful Mrs C wielding an even more youthful version of myself. She seems to have a huge chin there, Ben! And didn't I read somewhere that all babies were supposed to be beautiful? A rather charming portrait from mguyer, with a fully made-up Mrs C who does, I must say, look rather convincing. Most taken with your new signature - you should keep that one! I like the second entry but I'm not sure she'd want to be placed with anything quite as ancient as the Elgin Marbles... A very 1970s Mrs C from Eggbox, complete with the sort of purple hair seen in Space 1999... which would make me rather younger than I really am. I think she was rather more attractive than that, though. A very tiny entry from Jeepy - why so small? Hard to see at this size, but it seems to be a very convincing Mrs C (although I'll have a stiff neck at the end of the day). Clever stuff from Les Moore, with a convincing Mrs C - although she still looks in need of a shave, to me. And I think she'd choose a different colour eye shadow with that top! The Mad Lep has me pulling out all the stops, indeed - champagne on the White House lawn sounds like an excellent idea. But surely they could have run up a Union Jack for us? Not sure Mrs C looks much like me, though... I like Obama's pose in the background. A bit of a hot date from james - and an unusually static image, for a change. Um - that's supposed to be my mother, James, not my girlfriend! Cool suit, though. Aha! There's the animated version. Nice dance moves! A trip to Paris is the idea from GKB - and a great idea it is, too. I like the makeup and earrings, but you need to get that rip in the hat seen to - there's a hole where my hair's showing through. And she still needs a shave! An interesting approach from powerslave - great art treatment on the face, it's a good blend with the original image. Don't think it's one I'll show my mother, though... A fantastic blend of my face with Dame Edna Everage from tooquilos - very neat work, indeed. And the animated version is simply stunning! Love the tears and the soundtrack! Andy L has done well to remove all trace of beard from his entry, with a very youthful Mrs C holding her new baby. But as you say, Andy - it does rather do her an injustice! A rather fine entry from Josephine Harvatt, with a curious mix of smile and scowl. Some neat ageing going on, but don't you think someone who takes so much trouble over her appearance would do more with her hair? Love the change of venue - and expression - in the second entry! Very good work from gaoxiguo: the skin is excellent, I like the new hair and the removal of wrinkles. A very convincing image. Your daughter is right about the earrings - they look good to me. Great work! Very nice work from wayne morton, with the Queen's body doing sterling service for my mother. (The Queen herself wouldn't go near Harrods these days, of course, not now she's withdrawn her Royal Warrant from the place.) Well fitted features, a very consistent scene altogether. Good work, Wayne. Interesting work from horonggo: what is the stuff around the head? Is it hair? And is this a film ticket? More explanation needed! Very neat work from vibeke, with a decidedly youthful Mrs C on the Paris Metro. I like the hair treatment - but she doesn't dress like a 78-year-old. Looks like the face lift was only the start of the plastic surgery. Very funny work from brewell - I love the spattering, the expressions, the Marge Simpson hairdo, and especially the food itself - disgusting! You must give me the recipe. Very clever work from ananthe, with a clever blend of my features into the wrinkled face: beautifully done. And a great colour adjustment for the second entry - a good idea, very well executed. I laughed out loud at Cl&m&nt's entry - a great idea. The head seems rather too big for the body, though, and I think my mother could do with shaving off those sideburns. Shouldn't the baby look more like me? Oh, and you really need to clone out the fotolia watermark! I liked katew's family portrait. But when combining images like this, you do need to pay special attention to the colouring and lighting: those two heads look like they were photographed in two different places. Nice orchid. Good to see salfordnurse back after a long absence. Some good additions to the image here - the enlarging of the eyes, the lipstick, the overall healthy glow. I think she ought to tint her hair, though. An exciting idea from Emma - a day's skydiving might be just what she wants. I like the added handbag in this image! One small technical point: when drawing with the Pen tool, be sure to hold alt when closing a path to avoid turning a corner point into a smooth point, as has happened top right, Good to see michael sinclair back after an absence. I appreciate the 'feminisation' of the character, Michael, but haven't you gone a bit too far with the pointiness of the chin? I like the new hair style, though. Hope all is well in your new home. I've been staring at Jota120's entry, and I have to say it's hard to see what you've done here, Trevor... perhaps we need to see the original photo! I liked Pete's rather classy image - but what's happened to the side of her face? Looks rather too squeezed up for comfort! Other than that, the makeup works well, as does the new hair style. Thanks for being (relatively) kind to both me and my mother, everyone! Still haven't decided whether to tell her about this week's Challenge yet... |

Great comments Steve. I found this subject too difficult. (My mother is very sensitive, alive and well). I will not post the orignal photo as it based off my grandma (very strong women) taken by my dad (both gone), quite a fews years ago ![]() |

Thanks Steve. I did adjust the colour, but I see what you mean. Perhaps a touch of curves on one of you may have made it more convincing. |

Thanks Steve, I have absolutely no idea where that tear in her hat appeared from. When I checked back to the original file it was there but it had nothing to do with anything else i was doing. It's a mystery! _________________ If at first you don't succeed then skydiving is not for you. |

Re: Contest 241: Family resemblances
Cheers Steve ! I have to say that de -stubbling your face was the most difficult part - after I had got rid of that lot there was simply no time to take Mrs C to the hairdressers. Next time use Immac ! _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Josephine, I used an iMAC but it still didn't get rid of all the stubble! _________________ Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean to say that people aren't out to get you. |
