Dwindt, your 3d model is very impressive!! What did you use to model it in? _________________ Wicked Witch of the West:I'll get you, my pretty! And your little dog, too! |

Re: Challenge 746: Epstein's Torso
Sorry Tooquilos, for the late reply. Suffering a a good dose of brain strain from some very poorly planned ships. I modeled the torso in Modo and tweaked it in zBrush. I used Headus uv layout to unwrap the uv's and textured it in 3D coat. 3D coat's smart materials are pretty impressive. Similar to substance shader. The surface constraints owe to the imperfections of the surface, dependent upon the various maps that you apply.(2nd render) I also applied shaders to it in Daz Studio (1st render) and illuminated the scene with HDR lighting similar to the back drop I used. This marries the model to the environment pretty convincingly. I rendered it with Daz's new iRay renderer. I'm still tinkering with it. I would like to model the entire sculpture but I am having difficulties with techniques and am learning as I go. LWC's drilling animation caused me to envisage a "War of the Worlds" type scenery done with Epstein's Torso. _________________ The grass is greener on the other side of the fence because there is more $hit there. |

Dwidnt - that sounds like a huge amount of effort. Exactly the sort of thing that really puts me off 3D modelling. Spectacular results, though. |

It is Steve but every now and then, depending on the difficulty factor of what is needed to be modeled, the lack of photo reference raises the need to model something in 3D. The result, if done right, is worth the labour. _________________ The grass is greener on the other side of the fence because there is more $hit there. |

Dennis has been a fan of 3D modelling for many years. In another forum entirely I used to give him a very hard time for it! I am obliged to accept that he has become extremely accomplished and his single minded pursuit of it has paid dividends. But, sorry Dennis, I will still only go there myself when I see no viable alternative ........ ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Very good dwindled. I would like to be able to do as well with my own modelling. _________________ ![]() |

Ha, ha. That was an amazing family of creatives. Definitely no hard feelings Dave. I learnt so much from you. _________________ The grass is greener on the other side of the fence because there is more $hit there. |

GKB, thank you. I have absolutely no idea why I started 3D. Maybe trying to get an edge on Dave... ![]() _________________ The grass is greener on the other side of the fence because there is more $hit there. |
