He wants a photo too. Fair exchange. Squid pro quo.

Thanks Loyd and David. No cob David but the Wired Sister's have excellent Shroom service.

Lost a bit of detail reducing the size.

At last, got my picture back in. A better copy than the last. The island appears 7 times. It would help if it was clearer then you could identify them more easily.

Some varied and interesting entries. I particularly liked your turtle rendition Dennis.

Nice Tom. That small rock has gotten big. Surfer's paradise. There must be a 4 m swell there at least.

Lovely Frank. They made their money at Tom's Mercat and are now expanding.

I've run out of time to do any more, and in spite of my best efforts (over an hour to try and correct) to level the jumping horizon. The video footage was taken without a tripod!

For those not familiar with the very British institution that is ‘Desert Island Discs’, it is a radio programme on BBC Radio 4 that was first broadcast on the BBC Forces Programme on 29 January 1942.

Each week a guest, a 'castaway', is asked to choose eight recordings (usually, but not always, music), a book and a luxury item that they would take if they were to be cast away on a desert island, whilst discussing their lives and the reasons for their choices. The ‘castaways’ are usually people who have achieved eminence in their field, some notable success in their lives, or they’re politicians.

I listen to it all the time.

Re: Challenge 826: The desert island
It's weeks like this that make me really appreciate just how special this Forum is. It's not just Photoshop skills, it's what you do with them; and above all it's the spirit of cooperation, rather than competition, that is the overriding theme.

First to move to the island this week was DavidMac, with a Ben Mills-inspired bikinifest. Nicely done - but those poor girls could do with a cushion or two. I like the boat, and the subtle reflections. A splendid Bond-themed second entry, complete with full Connery; tremendous detail in here, and really fun to scroll down. Beautiful work. And a fine chateau (or possibly schloss) in the third entry, complete with helicopter landing pad and yacht dock. The Neptune figure in the fourth entry is expertly achieved, and makes good sense of the shape of the rock; but it’s the added seaweed that really brings it to life. Wonderful.

A terrific animation from lwc, with wrecked boat and flag-waving sailor. I like the fact that it’s all seen through the cockpit of a rescue helicopter; I find the juddering in the first amendment a little manic, but the side movement in the second amendment is good (apart from the bumpy horizon). Fun that rather then being rescued he’s been delivered of life’s essentials in the second entry. Remember that your reflections need to be directly below their subjects, not off to one side. I like the wildlife. The space themed third entry is entertaining, particularly the retro frame. I laughed out loud at the out-of-control helicopter in the fourth entry - perfectly realised. The giant squid in the fifth entry is a lot of fun, but it’s the motion of the toucan that really tickles me.

I think we’re gonna need a bigger boat… Michael Sinclair’s shark adds some fantastic menace to the scene, its pulsating mouth really adding to the drama. No howevers this week - outstanding work, Michael. Perhaps the island in the second entry should move up and down with the waterfall?

A lot of detail in GKB's animation, featuring soaring birds, a campfire and a fluttering flag. The change of scale is effective - nicely put together, Gordon. The only thing that sticks out - literally - is the wrecked ship in the foreground, which somehow doesn’t fit the scene. It’s just too high. Maybe the answer is to surround it with water?

A political entry from Mariner, turning the island into an arctic desert to great effect. Racy purple boots he’s wearing. I haver to agree with Michael Sinclair, though, about the tinting and feathering: it does soften the outline well. A very evocative second entry, too. Climate change seems to be affecting you this week, Michael. A curious third entry, with Alice ferrying a sheep - but I can’t say the background screen really matches the engraving style of the foreground.

A fantasy island from tooquilos, with a rather splendid castle rising out of the rock. It’s brought to light beautifully in the animated version - that rocking boat is a real bonus. I recognise that castle interior - one of your 3D modelling extravaganzas, I believe.

There are so many fantastic entries this week, but I have to say that dwindt really took my breath away. An outstanding piece of work, with extraordinary detail: that water edge is utterly believable (and a very hard effect to get right), the colour blending is perfect, and the fitting of the tortoise is spot on. Really, Dennis, you should be well pleased with this one. It’s not often I use the word, but to echo Loyd - awesome. And a really intriguing second entry, with that figure hidden in the branches - or is that a mushroom?

Thunderbirds are go, says Ant Snell - and it’s great to see so many of the ‘birds in one image. The tilted pIatform works well, especially with the tilted palm tree behind it.I had a Thunderbird 2 model as a kid, and loved it.

A retake on Odysseus’s sirens from JimH, complete with red light. A fun one to put together, Jim - but not sure about that lighthouse beam!

A fun toying of scale from Tom, both enlarging the size of the island with the skyscrapers, then shrinking it with the vast spaceship behind. I like how the galaxy breaks the symmetry of the scene with a much-needed diagonal. Great reflections, too.

Mermaids galore from Frank, populating Mermaid Cover. A particularly racy one bottom left - but I see you’ve added some discreet surf. A really fun entry.
