David, I forgot to mention that your ability to reconstruct the top part of the Morgan has not gone unnoticed.

Well thank you! Sometimes these things should not hit you in the face but simply be there.

Re: Challenge 868: Close the car
First to repair the car this week was, er, Steve Caplin, with a speedy entry to show that it was possible. Sorely lacking reflections and a new background; and leaving the old bonnet open like that is reprehensible. Must try harder.

A patch-up job from DavidMac, using bits from other cars - and a splendid piece of work it is, too. Seamless. The most extraordinary job, though, is the patching of the background, adding new legs for the boy, and rebuilding the shop window. I don’t think the car windscreen would reflect those people, but I’m not quibbling. Good job. A very entertaining pimped-up second entry, complete with pimp. Love all the chrome work. And I really enjoyed the third entry, neatly turning it into a black and white cartoon.

An ingenious solution to rebuilding the wheel from GKB - clamp it. Brilliant. A beautiful rebuild, complete with grill on the bonnet, and that parking ticket neatly covers the leaflets. Not sure about the reflected dark arc on the windscreen; the symmetry seems to highlight its artifice. I see the boy in pink has got bored and wandered off.

It’s a retro image from Josephine Harvatt, nicely located - and the man in the foreground has saved you hours of work. That woman is huge! And I don’t think it’s possible to sit inside the chassis like that.

A splendid rebuild from tooquilos, with good reflections and a very convincing windscreen. I like the new background - what is that shop selling? Looks like ionic column extensions. I really like the way the 3D model in the animated version rotates and then drives down the road, with very convincing side to side movement. All the car needs is, er, a driver.

A good three-framer from michael sinclair, with a neatly restored car and a new driver - is that me? The wheel spin is especially convincing. Why do the background trees sink into the ground on the right, though? Otherwise splendid. I rather liked the wonky wheel, but it’s good to see you’ve responded to it and fixed it in the second entry.

An interesting animation from lwc, with a curious background motion: shouldn’t those hills on the right move as well? I like the eagle, but I’m a little perturbed by the fact that it’s flying directly perpendicular to the viewer when the car is driving at an angle. The second entry works better for me, although I did like the eagle.

A splendid reconstruction from Frank, with a good driver talking on his phone - he fits really well in there. Lowering his transparency, though, means we can see the bottom of the shop window through him; reflection would be better!

Glorious work from Mariner, with a beautifully rebuilt car gleaming in its pea-green livery (make it a shade darker for British Racing Green). The occupants are splendid, complete with Harry’s bald spot. I expect he’s waiting for a royal flush.

Good work this week.

I didn't want Racing Green - too dark, and not a woman's colour. Royal flush! Ha! I never thought of that.
Thanks, Steve. Why don't you go and buy a Morgan Plus Six replica? Cars and museums are your thing aren't they?

Thanks Steve. The boy in pink got fed up waiting for me to finish so he went into the cafe to get an ice cream

Museums, yes. Cars, not so much. I use them to get about. I do like looking at a pretty one, but having had a vintage car (a Triumph Stag) I’ll never do it again. Such a pain to look after.

Glad you liked them Steve. Cars are so not my thing. I never even learned to drive until I was forty. I was a terrible driver and stopped as soon as it was no longer necessary. But somehow I enjoyed doing this.

As for reflections I don't think they would be there either but somehow the windscreen looked 'blind' without them so I left them there. Lesser of evils.

Thanks Steve, I had fixed that problem earlier(seeing thru the man) then made some changes and somehow missed it after the changes. One gets bug eyed after awhile !

The eagle could not be changed, the reason I removed it in the second version...

Thanks!

Re: Challenge 868: Close the car

Thank you Steve As far as the shop goes, I have no idea what it sells or where it is. I chose it because it fit in with the original background.
