Re: Challenge 1129: Fairy Tale
First of all, a big thanks to Steve for the feedback each week.
QUIZ ANSWERS:
Just to say that this challenge evolved, somewhat during its construction, my original idea was to include the dwellings and characters, and the quiz was going to be to place the character in the correct home. However, that was far too difficult and ended up being just naming the fairy tales. However, this led to several references to the same fairy tale.
Soooo David, in the main, your guesses were correct; just a few comments/updates:
1 Yes, Rapunzel was both the tower and the girl right of frame.
2 Little Red Riding Hood was both the girl crossing the bridge and of course, GKB’s original house.
3 Yes, Scarborough Fair (Old English ballad) is indeed a ballad and not a fable, fairytale or nursery rime (Trap question, well avoided).
4 If the Cat and the Magical Fish is a thing, very well done but it was, in fact, another trick clue, or should I say “Red Herring”.
5 The only one you missed, possibly because it was small and in the distance, so hard to spot unless you opened the high-res version, was the Troll in front of the bridge. The Three Billy Goats Gruff.
6 The cow was just a 2nd reference to Jack and the Beanstalk, e.g. the cow he exchanged the beans for when he went to the cattle market on the signpost.

He was much harder than I expected.

I like how you’ve managed to show the same scene from both sides, that must have taken a lot of working out.

That was the easy bit! It's completely instinctive from a lifetime of plotting multiple camera angles of the same scene. There is, in fact, a strict 'grammar' for doing this with very well established rules. It's one the first basics that all directors and camera operators have to learn.

We need a 100% organic badge for this sort of entry!

Now there's a thought ............ hmmmmm ........

Thank's Steve. This was my kind of image ....... and thank you Gordon for supplying it. Seems everyone enjoyed it.

For Ant:

4 If the Cat and the Magical Fish is a thing, very well done but it was, in fact, another trick clue, or should I say “Red Herring”.

Red herring ...... Hah! That went right over my head. There's an old folk tale about a fish in a lake that granted wishes. I was desperate guessing.

5 The only one you missed, possibly because it was small and in the distance, so hard to spot unless you opened the high-res version, was the Troll in front of the bridge. The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

I did open the high res but still somehow failed to spot him.

6 The cow was just a 2nd reference to Jack and the Beanstalk, e.g. the cow he exchanged the beans for when he went to the cattle market on the signpost.

I'd completely forgotten that part of the Beanstalk story! Duh!

Thanks Ant it was fun!

Now I have to go and deal with Ben's hotel lobby.

Ah ........... so my dirty mind then ......... time to take a children's tale solution and go eat some soap!

It was a glitch that I couldn't solve. It was fun making though.
