Of course, for true realism the light should beam through all the holes in the round drain cover as well - if you had a spare week or two in which to create it!

Thanks Steve. I did consider this for a fraction of a nano-second and came to the conclusion that you would just have to imagine the light rays. Very busy week so very little time for this one and none at all for next week's. I ought to retire again!!

Thanks Steve. I found the perspective in this one quite difficult.

I don't skimp... often

You were right about this challenge though. I was dreading it, but I learned a lot through all the fiddling around.
No "I told you so" 's please.

Thanks Steve
Any advice on the cone shadow would be welcome. I tried to imagine where the light was coming from.

I think this is a great case in point for us all. So often creating a stunning image is not about technique, but about vision: knowing what you want to achieve is the real hard part, creating it in Photoshop afterwards is just the mechanical side of it.

Congratulations again on a beautiful piece of work.

Thank you Steve for your nice comments.

I was a happier person before I bought your book and started on this "Friday Challenge" madness. Now, I am thinking about the "challenge" 24/7 and cannot stop..I am sure I will need therapy very soon....

A good right boot and a better interior. Got it. I did give lip service to the hole. Oh, and a top crop - I just wanted to make sure you recognized the background.

A very neat entry from powerslave, with a convincingly drawn concrete hole - and that lizard is a great addition. All that's missing is a slight shadow beneath the lid, and a lip inside the hole for the lid to sit on.

Thanks Steve, I did use a slight shadow beneath the lid although only at a size of 4px and depth of only 2px. You do notice it when its not there, perhaps too slight.

A steaming void from Jota120: Point of interest: is that shadow of the moon on Jupiter's surface real?

(Re: Jupiter moon). I was a bit worried about that too Steve. According to my understaning, Jupiter is much further from the sun than us. From there the sun starts to becomes a point (disc here from earth), thus the umbra(s) becomes sharper at Jupiter.

Yes its real, if you believe NASA.

Of course means some of my lighting may not be quite right, but excuse there was another moon giving diffuse reflected light for the wormhole part.
