Darkdemon, No, no, not at all. Don't say that. Its interesting we have a similar solution to the challenge, but contexts very different I think. This seems to happen quite often from my observations of the entries. I hope by virtue of my earlier comments to you, you can see no problem here. Thanks for your consideration. Keep posting your contributions ![]() Trevor |

Thanks again Steve (I know I should not respond each week, but), the concept of a constellation fits for the second entry, I was not quite sure ... I think of the plough ... or Hercules. And ... your suggestions on first entry well received. Helps me. Thanks. Trevor |

Southern hemisphere included, just not familiar with far south sky, but I see your flags, remember, and saw best image of Milky Way from Peru, but that is equator-ish |

Re: Contest 240: Maritime mayhem
That geometric thing is a star tetrahedron. For quite a while I've been wanting to illustrate it. The Friday challenge is a good motivator. So now that I have the basic sketch, I really want to explore coloring it like a crystal, make it more jewel-like. One step at a time is my motto for today. (I'm thinking to myself right now:reflections...refractions...sharp edges...high contrast...saturated color.) We have a side project. _________________ The journey of a thousand hours begins with a single layer. |

Brewell, Here is my tetrahedron (some commsions for docklands, not taken). Made it myself (as you can see). If you do tetrahdron, the angles are very difficult. Its the structure of diamond!! as you know I guess ![]() Just Trevor ![]() |

Re: Contest 240: Maritime mayhem
Beauty, Jota! A star tetrahedron is much easier to construct than a single tetrahedron. If you draw diagonals across each face of a cube and attach the corners, you've got the structure. Nice art, btw. It elicits many things - I see an oil derrick mostly. ![]() _________________ The journey of a thousand hours begins with a single layer. |

Re: Contest 240: Maritime mayhem
Thanks Brewell, I'll give it a try but not with copper and solder ![]() Like it ![]() Looks like a pyramid with a tetrahedron in it, but that may just be limits of photography and me. For the maquette, here is what I posted in the proposal: "The work consists of a tetrahedron. The atomic structure of diamond with the four carbon valance bonds at the centre. A ship leaves port. A crane like structure feeds the diamond hopper . A bird / phoenix emerges, symbolising the valued rebirth of Cork docklands from its contemporary and historic past". Strange how carbon can take on so many different forms .......... Better get back to the new thread now .... Cheers, have a good weekend, Trevor |
