Contest 14: A demolition job
Photographed this street last week, and I was wondering how it would look if the house with the blue door wasn't there. What would you see in its place? A blank wall on the house next door? Would you see into their rooms? And how might you demolish the house in the first place? High res here. ![]() |

Nice job Maiden. How do you make them so good, so quickly? Do you book Friday's off work and make sure there are no distractions, so that you can give 110% of your attention to the "Friday Challenge"?? ![]() Do you realise it means all us dweebs, have to think of something either totally bizarre or whacky, so to avoid repetition!! Ok there could be a hint of the green eyed monster in there, but hey wer're all friends here right LOL ![]() ![]() |

Hahaha - as a matter of fact it is my Off Duty day but I'm back to the grindstone tommorrow. That means you have a fairer chance next Friday as I'll be working that shift ![]() I'm quick but not always the best, so it'll be nice to see everybody else's contributions as they are always original and most amusing. _________________ mad as a badger and twice as furry |

Nice work Atomicfog. For the sake of people who may still be on dial-up, could you post a small image to the forum and link the large pic? _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

Re: Contest 14: A demolition job
Sorry, this isn't too good, I was too tired to fix the problems. Amongst other things, the perspective is quite wrong, the repeating brick patter is a little obvious. The point of the roof is too far forward and the gable end of the house isn't shaded correctly. ![]() full size |

Re: Contest 14: A demolition job
I think you're being a tad over-critical, even though what you say is true it doesn't look too obvious at first glance. The thing that strikes me about it rather than the points you raise is the whiteness of the background which was due to the sky getting over-exposed to maintain the exposure on the buildings in Steve's original pic (which you can see yourself by the reflections in the windows - blue sky and white clouds), perhaps darkening and satrurating the sky behind the building would have made it a bit more realistic. But it's still a great entry, Tweaknik ![]() _________________ mad as a badger and twice as furry |

Re: Contest 14: A demolition job
A fantastic set of entries this week - we've seen some real inspiration, not to mention superb Photoshop skills and enormous effort. First in, as usual, was maiden with an astoundingly good piece of work. The drawing of the interior of the house is a meticulous, perspective-perfect job complete with a cast of two, some realistic shadows and a sky that matches the reflections in the windows perfectly. Good detail all round - love the way that plant hangs out into space. If I have one criticism - and, really, it's a very minor one - it's that the angle of the house being whisked off on the truck is a little odd. Really, the top edge should be in the same perspective as the rest of the street. An imaginative entry from MJ, who's not only taken out the house but rebuilt the roof into the bargain. Good choice of background there, the hills match the angle of the street well - and you've preserved the fence nicely, too. Plenty of detail to examine in Atomicfog's inspired work. The new wall on the house is a really great fit - and note how he's rebuilt the roof to put a proper end on this terrace. The night theme works really well with that sky, and the glint on the flying saucer is in just the right spot to reflect the moon. Note the original blue door lying in the pile of rubble! A typically last-minute job from tweaknik, and you're being rather hard on yourself with all that self-criticism. The perspective on the side wall isn't perfect, although it's damn close, but the meticulous architectural detailing in the roof line makes up for any shortcomings! I'm not even going to mention TrinityOfOne's entry. I mean, there's cheating and there's cheating! |
