Contest 15: Down the tunnel
My local underground station is being refurbished, which is why it looks so scrappy at the moment. You can just see a train coming out of the tunnel - and I wondered, what other beasties could be lurking down there? High res file is here ![]() |

It's a little hard to make out but I suspect it's the Cave Troll from LotR? Or would that be Tube Troll? _________________ mad as a badger and twice as furry |

This is not what I wanted. I wanted the Elephant pulling a flat wagon with the monkey on it, but could not find a wagon. ![]() |

Nope that is a little girl. That is what I spent most of my time on, and put most of the work into. I did this in my multimedia class and I originaly had the girl brighter but my teacher said that somtimes it is best to hide your best work. Here is the pic. (http://www.moyaphotography.com/children/children.htm) where I got it from ![]() |

Re: Contest 15: Down the tunnel
Ha! Not fair tho maiden, you shouldnt use images of people actually from the underground without their consent. That lady in the red top was on the tube last time I was on the northern line! ![]() ![]() I really like that image, great statement! A friend of mine had a panic attack (she was crying) on the tube because she is claustrophobic, and everyone apparently just stared at her! Its really odd what happens to people when in enclosed surroundings. Zombiemania! |

Re: Contest 15: Down the tunnel
Well, what an interesting bunch of minds you have. Clearly something about dark tunnels and being underground has awoken some primal fears - I don't think we've every had a contest that has produced quite such nightmarish entries! Good to see a first entry from John-BoB. Think you need to ease up on the subtlety there! Very hard to see what's going on down the tunnel, especially given the work you've put in. I'm not even going to question the subject matter! Great composition and sense of space from MJ - you've managed to get those animals walking in exactly the right direction for the tunnel, and the kangaroo up front adds a needed foreground element. Who's the woman in the background? I sense there's a hidden story here. Wish we could read the sign - it might explain everything. UK2USAdaz, that's a really great entry - well worth clicking through the link for. The graphic elements add a ral feeling of speed and mystery to the scene. And its great, as ever, to see a Millennium Falcon making a guest appearance. (That is Darth Vader in the tunnel, right?) Great tinting, a really dynamic image. Did you draw that train, maiden, or at least the side of it? Fits the tunnel perfectly - and is that you peeking out from one of the fogged-up windows? Great montage all round, love the turned-down corner on the poster, and a cracking good zombie. Makes me scared to go back on the Northern Line. A masterful ghost train from Russ, with some truly splendid ghosts on the front. Need to watch your perspectives there! I really, really, will do some stuff about adjusting perspectives in the next edition! But extra points for getting in the seasonal pumpkin, of course. Beautifully understated work from tweaknik - it gets the point across perfectly. I really like the subtlety of this one, and it's great that you've gone for such a textural ball. Great shading, too, especially the shadow of the man on the wall. (Is it Indie? Why is he holding a guitar?) There's been a century of discussion over the real identity of Jack the Ripper - many believe it to have been Walter Sickert, whose paintings of the Camden Town murders (two stops down from where this was photographed) were too realistic to be a coincidence. Now, of course, we know it was Atomicfog all along. Ethics aside, you really have to admire his guts. |

Re: Contest 15: Down the tunnel
Yes I copied the front of the train from a photograph and created an outline in Illustrator which I then 3D Extruded to fit the perpective of the tunnel and mapped the front of the train onto the object - I had to do it in 3 pieces to get the length then created some windows and doors in Photoshop using Free-Transform to fit along the sides of the train as well as giving it a paint job. The figure in the window wasn't intentionally suppose to be me, I'll have to have another look in case it was a subliminal self-portrait ![]() _________________ mad as a badger and twice as furry |

Re: Contest 15: Down the tunnel
Well, yeah, the perspective is out, but its deliberate you see years ago there was another train line there and thats where the train is coming from , its also on a indian burial ground, and.... and, oh Im just digging a hole here, lol! ![]() PS - Did I see a new challenge this morning with a taxi, and now its vanished? ![]() |

No, it was me. Steve didn't set it to sticky, so it was on page 2. _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |
