Contest 103: Independence Day
Here in Britain, we celebrate July 4th as the day we finally got rid of one of our more troublesome colonies. I understand from my transatlantic friends that some recognition is given to this event in the US, as well. So here's a typical American suburban dwelling. How might the occupants mark the festivities? Alternatively, those who have seen the movie Independence Day might have other ideas... High res is here. ![]() |

Re: Contest 103: Independence Day
July 1st is Canada Day, which is way more important then Independance Day for us Kanucks. Let me introduce you to Frank and Gordon, our 2 beaver mascots form our national phone company ad campain. Ô Canada! PS: For those of you ignorant of my country, the thing in the back is the not-paid-yet Montreal Olympic Stadium (circa 1976) _________________ |

The wall and sculpture are part of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial in Washington, D.C. I find the quotation quite profound. ![]() |

Nice comp! Just a thought... with the strong shadow coming off the wall (cast on the grass) wouldn't there be the same coming off of the statuary as well? Pierre - nice pic, too... love how you fit the mini in there! _________________ Drawing attention to what otherwise might be overlooked... emphasizing things that matter. |

Well, seems Tom and I took the latter option in this contest! I have no idea how mine came about... was thinking about doing something entirely different (still may) and ended up with this... Your image is not showing but I copied its link. Wicked stuff! I used to see things like that too when I was way younger, in the late 70's... ![]() _________________ |

Raffy should feel right at home in Washington with all the other fat cats and abundance of... well, won't say... but they're related to mice... Pierre... yeah, sometimes I have problems with the linking as well... it will come up with an 'error' page something about local host... I just 'back button' and re-try until it loads... I'll have to get a different host to link to I suppose. LOL... I was younger in the '70's too, ![]() _________________ Drawing attention to what otherwise might be overlooked... emphasizing things that matter. |
