Challenge 270: sky fighters
I went to an event last weekend that included a load of vintage cars, steam engines and planes. I got a load of photographs of biplanes, in particular this close-up view from just behind the cockpits.

I photographed this one on the ground, of course. How would it look in action? It will need some pilots, of course, and that propeller really needs to spin...

High res is here, with a cutout PNG version here (and you've no idea how long it took to cut this out).

I just cannot get the PNG to load. I've cleared the temp internet files a number of times, but no joy. May have to sit this one out.

That's odd. It loads OK for me. Try downloading it as a file instead?

Thanks Steve
I right clicked on the link and saved the file direct. It did take 3 attempts though, but now safely embedded in a PSD doc. All I have to do now is come up with an idea.

Re: Challenge 270: sky fighters
Marty,
Copy the prop blades to a new layer and delete the old ones. Then go to Filter>Blur>Radial Blur. Set it to 'Spin' and drag the funny looking box on the right so that the centre of the spin coincides with the centre of the prop. This has to be done by guesstimation. The default setting of '10' seems to work nicely with this image. I actually did each blade separately on my submission.
Hope this helps.
Gordon

Hi GKB,

Fantastic work !
Sorry, but I just have a suggestion to make:
the dog should be a poodle! it'd put more authenticity in the scene of the Red Baron! LOL
cheers

Here is my attempt ! First time facing the challenge !!!
Thanks GKB by the great tip with the blades! I hope you don't take my joke wrong!!! I´m fascinated by history, and the Red Baron is one of my favorite ! BTW this guy on the rear cockpit isn't Manfred ! his name is Milo !

Thanks to Steve for your advice about last week's work. And I think this work may be better than last week. Thank you again.
