Challenge 276: Fill the moat
I'm grateful to Nick Curtain for this week's Challenge. Nick's just spent some time photographing Hampton Court Palace (you'll see a number of his photographs on thefullmontage soon). One of his images shows the original moat, now dry and empty. Can you fill it with water? As it's surrounded by walls I wouldn't expect much turbulence on the surface, so we might expect a degree of transparency in the finished result... High res is here.  |

Luka, that is quite elaborate - very nice. I am a night photographer, so I really have problems with day light.

Thanks Nick, I am planning to post a step-by-step how I did it in my blog on retouching if anybody cares. Also, thank you for generously offering this wonderful image for the current challenge. Just wanted to make sure - I would like to clarify whether I can use the images for the "before and after" examples on my blog and in my retouching portfolio (for this and future challenges). I assumed I could, as I saw somebody posted in the blog about this challenge. I prefer to make sure though. Thanks. Some mighty reflection work there. |

I have no objection to you using the image however, I have offered it to Steve for use on The Full Montage, if he wishes to, so the decision lies with him on this one. I would be interested to know which blog mentioned this challenge and thanks for your kind comments. Nick |

Thanks Nick, It is actually somebody from the gang here - I don't recall. I am sure this will be read and somebody will mention it. If not, I will try to remember or will thrash my browser's History. Well, I mentioned it in mine as well- just setting up the blog that is separate from my night shooting so all areas of photography don't mix. I pride myself in being able to create pretty neat lighting effects in-camera and never doctor those images - that's why I really want to keep those two far apart. |
