Challenge 427: Smashing fun
With Halloween now safely out of the way, the next event in the UK calendar is Bonfire Night on 5th November. This is when we remember the failed attempt by Guy Fawkes to blow up the Houses of Parliament, in 1605. Traditionally, the night is celebrated with fireworks and a bonfire, on which is burned an effigy of the unfortunate Mr Fawkes (who came to a very sticky end indeed). Of course, there are those who wish he'd succeeded. And since it's been a while since we've effected any major destruction on this Forum, I'd like you to blow up the home of the Prime Minister, 10 Downing Street. Use any explosives you like, but major destruction is the goal. This week's image comes from Wikimedia Commons, courtesy of Robert Sharp. High res is here. ![]() |

Re: Challenge 427: Smashing fun
Excuse me: Not started yet, but side comment and seems a bit related: We (40) went to lobby parliament last Wed. Went around the houses of parliament, would not let us in Commons but did go in Lords while "active". After that we had private meeting with MP(s) and civil servants in Portcullis House (where all the investigations/enquires like Leverson and the Maxwell's enquires take place as seen on TV). Our local council MP could not attend, no comment, apart from she should represent us (egg on face). The MP responsible for the law we were addressing was polite. Thanks to him for meeting us, but said he could not comment on pending issues much. He was candied, and I understand broader brief than ours, though very closely related. I had to give my comment/question, but only after several others had done so. He fluffed around in response to mine. It is a pivotal logical about a definition. I did not realise until after some commented to me, and stuff in the news with politicians in news, now it was a very interesting question, that he would respond to! The question was "how do you define Primary Residence and investigate there of?". Oh well, I'm intrigued more now ... He was quite helpful and so shook his hand ... my god, it was very clammy/sweaty, someone stressed him, which our group can do! So now ALL I need to do now is blow it all apart, but have done some of that already ![]() |

Re: Challenge 427: Smashing fun
Hope you get my drift. Its all a house of cards and falls down.. Like a fool looks into a mirror......... ![]() PS: "Yes Minister" A British satirical sitcom . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yes_Minister PS2: I have not read any of J.K.Rowlings book (yet), but I like this quote, related to my mirror in some-way, “Books are like mirrors: if a fool looks in, you cannot expect a genius to look out.” Applies to art and images in my mind and I include myself as fool several times. PS3: Or maybe I meant "House of Cards" as seen on BBC, thriller, ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Cards |
