Challenge 507: The beach hut
I spent the weekend in the charming seaside town of Whitstable recently. On a stroll along the beach I noticed a long series of colourful beach huts, which may be a peculiarly English phenomenon: people fit them out with little gas stoves and sit outside them on deck chairs, drinking tea. This newly-renovated example has yet to be painted. Can you brighten it up? And perhaps open the doors so we can see inside? High res is here. ![]() |

This is the way I paint as well -- one gallon for the building and a gallon for me. ![]() |

Whitstable Upon Kwai - Just a very simple 'quickie' this week. No time for more. Very poor quality 'cos I couldn't find any better quality screenshots. ![]() ![]() |

The waterfall was problematic ![]() Anna your animation was wonderful ![]() NB: you might have to wait for a few seconds or so for the animation to start "free-flowing" easily ![]() ![]() |

Re: Challenge 507: The beach hut
Thanks Anna. I had originally painted in Multiply but it was kind of dark. Hard light gave it the pop I remember from that house in Providence. _________________ I'm still learning. |

Re: Challenge 507: The beach hut
I decided to slightly increase the size of the woman with the gun. All the coastal places I've lived did not have beach huts, so I have no idea how large they are or what is inside them. I did Google "beach hut interior" but most of the images looked like designer beach huts. I doubt the typical one is that fancy. Could someone please inform me as to what is usually inside a beach hut? Just curious. I used the same color scheme for the beach hut as one of the houses I lived in when I lived in Providence, RI. I don't know where the landlady got her palette from, but people never had trouble finding the house. As far as what is going on here, my brother's guess was that the gun isn't real and the couple in the back are engaged in an adult role-playing game. However, you are free to make up your own story. -Sara ![]() _________________ I'm still learning. |

Re: Challenge 507: The beach hut
Note the optical illusion created between the roof overhang and the left side of the porch. With the two main posts aligned, one might think that M.C. Escher was involved in the construction of this hut. |
