Challenge 514: The stand-up comedian
A couple of weeks ago I went to see the master of stand-up comedy, Stewart Lee in a short one-hour preview show in which he was trying out new material in advance of his next TV series.

Before he came on I grabbed this shot of the stage from my seat in the front row, looking up at the vacant space behind the microphone.

Can you add the comedian of your choice to the scene?

High res is here.

How spooky ... here is a similar photo that I took at a recent Stewart Lee gig at Leicester Square Theatre. Strange how I never think to offer such images as staring points for friday challenges.

I have really enjoyed seeing Stewart, Richard Herring, Andrew Collins, Simon Munnery, Francesca Martinez and other comedians at LSQ, Bloomsbury Theatre and other such similar venues.

I didn't realise you were a fan Steve, what did you think of the recent SL warm up show?

I pulled this in because it spitting out there!
Not so much stand up as laying down after his walking to the dance floor dance.
Garlic bread – it’s the future, I’ve tasted it.

I’ve not gone mad but you have to be a fan!

Apologies for a 2nd entry this week Steve but Rain and thunder forced me to it. This would be a show I’d pay to see!

I am up to my neck in work. Hadn't expected to be able to enter at all but rain stopped today's shooting early. So here's a real quickie .......

The famous DIVE INTO A PAPER CUP routine.

The curtains appear to be like flickering flames, So I thought the devil could have his stage, or do I mean rage.

Anyway..." I say, I say: what did the new arrival to Hell see and say when he arrived? A sight of everybody drinking fresh coffee up to their knees in sh*te, whereupon he thought 'this place isn't too bad!' Only to be interrupted by the head demon saying ' coffee break over! everybody back on their heads!' "

NB might take a few secs to animate

I am having a really bad day (21/07/14). I may have lost all my work after the beach hut. I was going to work on this some more but I decided to upload it now before anything else goes wrong. I hope the 22nd is better because it's my birthday.

I know of lots of comedians, but I actually know one comedian: Ian Roberts. He and I were friends at Grinnell, the School where both of us got our B.A.s. I have Steve to thank for giving me the impetus to get back in contact with him.

My absolute favourite!!

The "paper cup" routine is, of course, not his. I saw that performed once by an unknown street performer.

Ive always wanted to make and spin a disco ball, reasonably convincingly, in After Effects. After a few tutorials and tweaking here and there I think I may have gotten it !

Happy Birthday Sara. Hope you have a great day!!
