Challenge 517: Give the man a view
Hello all. Since Steve is luxuriating in France for two weeks, I'm deputising.

"I photographed this man and his dog on a rainy day in Oslo recently. He made a great foreground element, and that sailing ship and castle are timeless. But can you get rid of that modern cruise liner, and replace it with something more in keeping with the historical background?

High res is here.

I'm away until mid August, and will write up comments when I return."

Hope you are having a good holiday, Steve.
For once Google found me an appropriate photo so it hasn't taken all week to produce a 'masterpiece'!

I thought he should be doing a bit of advertising

Here's a novel idea.

Nice images so far.
I shall be missing out on the next couple of Challenges as I am off to sunny (I hope!) Scotland for a couple of weeks.

David, thanks for your wonderful photo! Wonderful and perfect just because the old-modern-effect. Indeed it is a pity to change it. Anyway, I went yesterday to our marina and did my best ...

Have a lovely holiday, I gather summer has been quite good so far. By next week I hope I will be back entering again. I will be home in wintery Nelson again. Will be a bit of a shock to the system, haven't had a day under 30C in the last 6-7 weeks. Have almost got used to it.

I thought I would treat it as a straight technical challenge for a change.
Not entirely convincing but not a bad fist either.

Love the effect on the boards - how did you manage that ? I wanted something similar but couldn't crack it with my usual "poke and hope" method

Wishing you a happy holiday. As my Edinburgh friend says "Don't worry if you don't like the weather - wait 20 minutes and you will get something different"
