Challenge 528: Make me a man

Forum, meet Shay. Shay is a FTM (female transitioning to a male) who emailed me this week after seeing my Photoshop stubble effect, and asked if I would be able to repeat the process to show how s/he would look with an unshaved beard.

I thought this was a great opportunity to take the transformation a little further, and I'm delighted to report that Shay has generously allowed this image to be used for the basis of a more complete gender change.

Are you able to portray Shay as more masculine? Please, bear in mind that Shay is a real person who will be watching the progress this week, and treat the process with the respect the request deserves!

NOTE: I'm going away for the weekend next Friday, on a flight at the absurdly early time of 6.30am. This means I'll be unable to write up the Friday Challenge on Friday.

So for this week only, please consider this as a Thursday Challenge, and get your entries in by midday on Thursday (that's midday UK time) at the latest.

Very brave on a number of levels Shay!

In line with the old Who number http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/who/tattoo.html I was going to put in a tattoo but that is hardly a gender signifier these days!

Thank you Shay for letting us have a go at this. It's been great fun and knowing that there is someone real on the other end who may be encouraged or discouraged by the visons we conjure up makes it very specially challenging.

My understanding is that given the necessary levels of hormone treatment that this lies entirely within the bounds of possibility.

I think it suits you ..... and its very fashionable right now.

(By the way I 'borrowed' it from George Clooney!)

It takes a great deal of courage to change. I admire you for it, and for being so open with us, Shay. Thank you very much for allowing us to use your picture for the challenge. Do let us know how your progression goes. I hope you like my rendition of you. When I was getting my B.A. I knew another student with a beard similar to this. I always thought he looked very handsome with it, and I think it does the same for you.
