Challenge 770: Spiced peppers
You'll be glad to know I captured a dozen Friday Challenge starting points during my two weeks in France, and you'll be subjected/treated to them over the next few months. Here's the local market in the charming town of Saint Jean d'Angély, where I was surprised to discover someone selling both purple peppers and white aubergines. Looks like there's space for some other miscoloured fruit and veg to blend in with the existing selection. High res is here.

I live in Matonge - Brussels African quarter. Here are tiny white aubergines in one of the local African food shops. They are quite literally the size of an egg. It is from this little known variety that the aubergine became known as 'egg plant'. On closer inspection your photo looks like something known here as 'ugly veg'. Some supermarkets put all the veggies that don't quite live up their standards of perfection in an 'ugly veg' bin. All mixed up together. They are sold cheaply rather than being thrown out. It's a very good idea. You can buy a bent or crooked cucumber for half the price of a straight one.
