					Challenge 802: Antisocial art
I've been greatly enjoying the contributions to the thread GKB started on Art in the time of Covid-19 - some really entertaining and well crafted entries here. As it happens, I've also been playing around with a similar theme: adding social distancing to classic art. I've attached a few of my examples here. The hard part, of course, is rebuilding the background. I'd like to see what you can do with paintings of your choice. ![]() |

This is tricky. Gordon and I, partly copying him, have already used up a huge chunk of possibilities in his thread. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

					Re: Challenge 802: Antisocial art
Following my previous remark I am bowing out on this one. I spent quite a bit of time on this in private games with Gordon last week. The problem, as I discovered last week, is just how many paintings can you mask, glove or separate without becoming totally repetitive? Many of my efforts simply spun variations on Gordons. One of Steve's own examples duplicates exactly one of mine. And so on ..... There are some very creative minds here and I shall be very interested to see how many can tackle this without the very predictable and obvious listed above? If I think of something really original I'll contribute but I don't want to offer up yet another variant of what I have already done. I ran dry on this already last week. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

I think not. I added the masks, as you did, but the real challenge here was in moving the people apart - and patching the background. |

Apologies Steve. Thank you for the correction. The move apart is so subtle I hadn't spotted it. My error. But shouldn't it be two meters? _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

The original wasn't wide enough! |

Ah! Well now there's a challenge!! My little offering, so as not to appear churlish or too negative, is so simple it's almost cheating. But I did have to completely reconstruct the original to be twice its width to do it. ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

This looks really interesting and I might take a break from mask making to submit a still. I can't justify the time for an animation. _________________ I'm still learning. |

Great minds think alike, Gordon. I have spent enough time on The Last Supper not to want to drop it any more so I will alter my work a bit. |

Something seems dreadfully wrong with mine... I'm not sure these fellows understand the concept of "social distancing", or what gloves and a mask might be needed for.
Sorry, I'll go back to my cave now. |

Third time is a charm. I need to get back to the production lines, so only this quickie. My mother had a cheap print of this Degas hanging in our laundry room when I was a child. ![]() _________________ I'm still learning. |
