Challenge 809: The coffin doll
I stumbled across this bizarre doll in a street market in Lisbon. The doll itself is strange enough - but to come with its own coffin seems unnecessarily macabre for a children's toy. Can you find a suitably plasticky setting for this curious doll? Or just ignore my instructions and do whatever you choose. High res is here. ![]() |

This doll is part of the 'Monster High' range. From memory this one is Cleo De Nile. _________________ Wicked Witch of the West: I'm melting! I'm melting! |

Re: Challenge 809: The coffin doll
The doll I didn't find. I tried Goth Barbie - tons of weird stuff but no match. I tried Halloween barbie and Dracula Barbie - there's stuff out there would scare adults let alone kids!! I tried Barbie Drag Queen - lots more queens dressed as Barbie than Barbie dressed as queens! ![]() ![]() ![]() I shall follow your lead and see what I can find. I can, however, tell you the coffin is a jewellery box. The doll in Steve's picture and the coffin do not appear to belong together. ![]() ![]() ![]() This one is seriously weird! ![]() ![]() ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 809: The coffin doll
David, it's definitely Cleo De Nile but after high level discussions with the authority (my granddaughter) it was determined that the outfit is not the original one the doll came with. It's been changed or swapped, from another doll in the range at some stage, before ending up at the street market. Gordon, that's brilliant! _________________ Dorothy: Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore |

Re: Challenge 809: The coffin doll
Yes after following up your lead on this I found lots of Cleo that exist in dozens of variations. But I didn't find a match. Oddly, after all this research, I am completely stuck for an idea at present. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 809: The coffin doll
Having been stuck for ideas, a completely obvious one popped up. I think the reason Steve found this in a street market is that that the owners parents decided she had some worrying issues ......... ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

I too was stuck for any idea what to do with this - took longer to decide and research than the composition itself took to do. Thought of animating but no time. Nice work David and Loyd - simple yet effective animation Loyd. ![]() |
