Challenge 877: John Wayne
I'm indebted to DavidMac for this week's Challenge, which he photographed recently on his travels. I'll let him explain:

"Just got back from another short stay in the wonderful city of Antwerp. We managed accidentally to book ourselves into a lovely hotel that turned out to be in the heart of the tourist quarter which, in common with tourist quarters everywhere, was pretty second rate. A nearby Bar-B-Cue restaurant had this very sad and tacky statue of John Wayne outside. I wondered if it might be fun to set him free in his rightful context and restore and equip his broken fingers suitably. I feel the profile would work better, except that it belongs on one of those photo disaster pages by reason of its (completely accidental) priapic aspect"

High res is here.

Priapic eh? What a strange word to use. I prefer phallic.

I sometimes have quite an old fashioned streak when it comes to written english. It was a genuinely and completely inadvertent mishap. If you prefer more prosaic everyday english, a "cock up".

Haha! I know the feeling. When I do that it makes me feel like a real priapic!

Re: Challenge 877: John Wayne
PROBLEM!

Can anyone help me here? As you can see the animation below is somewhat faulty; however, while it is in Photoshop is animates perfectly. It is only when I save it to Gif that this happens.

You might ask how did I manage to get a correct animation into the forum? I had to make 4 separate JPGS of different sequences and save them to desktop and back into Photoshop again from which I created another animation which worked.

I have never experienced this problem before!

UPDATE If the Gif or PSD file came with an animation and you removed the background (in this case a solid colour white) so only transparency (apart from the object) remained and then saved to a gif file the above happens. Okay lesson learned.

You solved the problem while I was trying to figure it out... well done!

It saved all the frames in succession ending up with all four frames superimposed in the last frame.

I tried, but I could not recreate it.

For just four frames I find that animation quite extraordinary Michael, although the 'tear' across the chest is a teeny bit disturbing - draws the attention away from the good stuff.

That "tear" David is actually part of the original muscle structure; however, I have now "removed it".

Yes! I can see it now, yet it was invisible to me: how amazing! Anyway now fixed.

My genuine thanks for making me aware of these issues.

Micheal, Photoshop is the perfect vehicle for tunnel vision. It is all too easy to get so concentrated on what you want to achieve that you lose sight of the rest.

I constantly find Steve (and occasionally others) pointing out omissions or anomalies so obvious I am quite unable to see how I could possibly have missed them. But I did!
