Challenge 879: The binman cometh
This row of houses in north London was built with sturdy brick enclosures to hold the unsightly dustbins (trash cans, Loyd and Frank). Since then, the council has moved on to taller wheelie bins, which no longer fit in these miniature sheds, as can be seen further down the street.

To what other use could the tiny buildings be put?

High res is here.

Lord Fauntleroy has upgraded his estate piggery to match the grandeur of his stately home. However, he is concerned about low-flying jets.

I apologise in advance for my "iffy" perspective...David

Re: Challenge 879: The binman cometh
A little bit of explanation is perhaps needed here.

One of the most fascinating parts of a challenge can be the image search for suitable elements. I never cease to be amazed by the truly bizarre and weird stuff one inevitably stumbles upon when searching.

In this instance my search for "Garden Gnomes" for the preceding image turned up some totally unexpected images. Garden gnomes toting shotguns and machine guns!!

The biggest surprise however was this:

Turns out it's a pencil holder!

It got me thinking about would happen if Sam Peckinpah or Quentin Tarantino had created my previous image.

Most of you who have been here longer than I have will know that once every couple of years I have a tendency to lapse into totally unmotivated tasteless gore.

This would seem to be one ........... the "Gnome Bunch" or "Reservoir Gnomes"!

Frankly it's very basic and a prime case of silliness over accomplishment.

David, I love your gnome pencil holder and wish I had one. I dislike garden gnomes and wish them all dead. Thanks for the explanation - it made some kind of sense of an otherwise incomprehensible picture.

Well, there's a new project for you. Given the standard of the modelling it really wouldn't be too much of a challenge to make a copy in plasticine. Strike a mould from it and make a plaster copy.

Nice clips Lloyd and Michael. What a collection of gnomes. Don't worry about making molds Mariner, David's 2nd picture will be full of mould in a few days.

Reservoir Gnomes! love it!
Perfect resident, Frank. I'd forgotten about Oscar.
Pennywise lurking behind the bins is perfect, Loyd.

Anna, I had to search for "Cubbin". Was this inspired by the work of Paul Cubbin? Nicely done in any event...

Way off, Loyd! Cubbin is a hybrid word I created. Cubby + Bin = Cubbin

I was indeed, "way off". However, when you look at Paul Cubbin's work you can see how I made the connection...
