Challenge 884: The ground floor
We'll take a short break from our Maltese excursion to visit Bury St Edmunds, and this curious building site.

Those are clearly the front doors of these houses. But how are the prospective inhabitants supposed to get in?

High res is here.

Re: Challenge 884: The ground floor
That is truly baffling. The drainpipes and utility access doors indicate that the ground level will remain low. Why no windows at the lower level? It is hard to imagine a logical reason for this. The only thing I can think of is that they are built into a steep slope and the the door level here is ground level at the back.

If ever you go again do please send us picture of what really happened.

Re: Challenge 884: The ground floor
I've just noticed the shadow and two step on the left hand wall which would tend to support the slope idea. Bizarre.

Re: Challenge 884: Buyer Beware
A confusing image indeed, I saw porches and steps leading up from ground level and the 'slope' idea. I then decided to take the easy way out and go with the Venice of Bury St Edmunds. It's silly, I know...

Due to hazardous working conditions and the few construction workers left, the Bury St. Edmunds project was abandoned...

Thanks Michael. I had fun with this.

And thank you for a good smile from the unexpected twist in your entry.

That's clever Michael! I think you need to do a sequel David - showing how he actually gets in! Diverse and funny entries this week.
