Challenge 894: Balls to Malta
As I was crossing the river from one side of Malta to the other last year I passed this curious building, which is apparently a museum of some kind.

Sadly I didn't get the chance to visit it. I imagine, however, that it looks more impressive by night. What do you think?

High res is here.

Now that is not so easy. Fiddly. Not sure I will have the time for this. Hopefully enough to have a go at least.

My thoughts entirely. That'll be a lot of masking to simulate the lights reflecting on the metal structure. It'll be effective but time consuming. Come on Mariner..

I'm busy with a 3D render, trying to compliment the space capsule that I modelled for Steve's challenge 890. The retrieving of the astronauts off the Gemini, by a Sikorsky Sea King helicopter. I'm stuck on the first step. How to portray the water swirl and turbulence from the helicopter's down draught. Should prove challenging. If I win, I'll post it to view.

Enjoy everyone.

An all too quick quickie...

Well that's fun Loyd!

Another quickie. Partly out of necessity and partly because it went quicker and better than I expected. I could go on fiddling and improving this one forever. But I am stopping here. There are some obvious bits where I haven't really pulled it off but overall I am actually rather pleased with this. I think it's reasonably convincing.

Re: Challenge 894: Balls to Malta
I think it's worth mentioning that my image has only eight pixel layers, mostly for detailing the metal trusses and the two light beams.

Ninety percent of this was done simply and solely by applying masked adjustment layers to the original image. This has given me what I think must be a personal record of no less than nineteen different curves and colour balance adjustment layers applied to a single image layer!

A difficult and most unusual challenge.

Yes, this is quite a tricky one folks. As a pensioner I have nothing much to do, so I like time-consuming stuff, and this one will keep me busy.

This one looks simple, so I'm sure it isn't. Love yours David. If I get my iMac repaired I will give it a go.

My research says this is the Science Museum in Kalkara - noted for this museum and boat building - hence the boats.

Loyd, David, and Frank excellent

Steve I'm not off-topic. Let me explain: I have extrapolated an extemporisation of a quasi "deconstructed" perceived abstraction from the original representation; in other words, artistic licence!

Re: Challenge 894: Balls to Malta
Bizarre but very interesting. The background metalwork is very intriguing. A perfect fit.
