Challenge 1055: The Trojan Horse
This week's image is from GKB, who is currently visiting Troy in Turkey (or at least he was when he took the photo).

You'll know about the horse from your schooldays, but this is the first time I've seen a proper reconstruction of it. The staircase is a bit of a giveaway, though, and it could really do with some wheels…

High res is here.

The background image is an infrared image shot at Ephesus and shows one of the gates to the city.

This can't qualify as an entry although it is my work and is relevant. I can't remember the exact year but we shot this sometime in the mid seventies, so about fifty years ago. No CG in those days. This was a full size physical set built for just a thirty second ad.

Those were the days when the Brits really made ADS!

Loyd - thank you. I thought you might appreciate the IR image.

David - excellent, love it with all the various undertones 👍

Thanks Gordon. Truth to say I’m struggling a bit with this. Hoping for inspirations to come ……………..

Failing to fully comprehend the concept, the Vikings called their version ‘The Sea Horse’.

Re: Challenge 1055: The Trojan Horse
Loyd there is actually a popular theory that the Trojan Horse was in fact a ship.

Gordon that's really bizarre. A new interpretation of 'off his rocker" ......

Just a quick silly one (he said as if the others weren't silly)

David - That's a new one for me.

Gordon - I'd say you captured silly quite well with that one.

Re: Challenge 1055: The Trojan Horse
I'm a bit stuck on this, so one obvious literal minded last attempt. With apologies to Henri-Paul Motte.

Lot's to like in that literal version David... the horse's shadow makes it work for me.

Re: Challenge 1055: The Trojan Horse
It was fun tweaking Gordon's horse to fit and giving it a more painted appearance. The fit is precise enough for me to have kept the soldiers on top and descending the rope from the original painting. The foreground soldiers are my own addition to give it more depth. Not very creative but an excellent technical challenge.
