Challenge 1090: Messerschmitt
As well as making fighter planes, Mr Messerschmitt (Willy, to his friends) also had a neat line in cars. I found this bubble car in London's Science Museum recently.

It's behind a couple of glass supports, though, and they'll need removing before you put it on the road.

High res is here.

(For those of you who have older version of Photoshop, removing that glass could be problematic – so you could instead choose to use my cleaned-up version here.)

The 'fifties saw the introduction of two bubble cars: the Messerschmitt 1955 and the equally odd Italian Isetta earlier in 1953. To get into this bizarre beastie you opened the entire front of the car.

I remember both of them vividly. As a young teenager I thought the Messerschmitt was dead cool and really wanted one!

One of the math teachers in high school had an Isetta. As a prank, four of the guys picked it up carried it a few feet and set it down behind some iron posts in the parking lot… I never found out how the teacher recovered it.

I can't recall ever seeing a Messerschmidt locally.

This is by far the shortest runway I've ever landed on...and definately the widest.

And I and some others with our music teacher's old Austin 7. Seems a popular schoolboy prank. I even have photos of us doing it.

Here's how we moved it without being able to drive it.

Somehow I thought we'd see something along those lines from you Gordon. Nicely done.

Is that actually you Dennis?

Well, I finally got to my free bus pass age yesterday. Not sure if that means I will get more or less time to play on here. I do know however, that I’ll not be getting many buses as we only have one bus per week in our village, so unless I intend to stop out all week to get a return bus, it’s not much use to me.

Both Gordon and I with the same ideas...lol. Great minds think alike. Well done guys.

So I've managed to get my 3D program working. I'm 3 weeks behind in a challenge that finishes in 2 weeks. I'd better pull my finger. If I don't see you through the week, I'll see you through the window.

Ah Ant! Seems we are getting back into our old synchronicity. I have just finished removing the wheels to create a hover vehicle. It certainly works in your case.

Mine is pretty boring compared to what's been posted, but here it is anyway. The shot angle is challenging, so I've put the car at Shuttlworth not far from me. They hold car shows there. I struggled with that glass roof!

Saw the Messerschmitt at a car show sometime last century. This is why I didn't buy one even tho I thought they were cute.

I had deliberately previously distorted the truck tying for an over a hill effect but I don't think it worked.

It is not widely that Doc Brown started out on his time travel experiments with a different vehicle.
but it couldn't quite reach the required 88 mph.
