Challenge 1122: The sleigh ride
This week's Challenge comes courtesy of GKB, who photographed this rather splendid sleigh in Strasbourg. It depicts St Michael, and dates from the 1700s. What might power a vehicle like this? And what sort of person would choose to ride in it? High res is here. |

For the Brits only ......... Mother Superior is chastising one of her nuns who has been caught in bed with a man. "But Reverend Mother he was a saint! St Michael!" "Whatever makes you believe such nonsense sister?" "It was on his name tag! ....... in his underpants." _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Having overcome the dragon, St Michael chose not to slay it — he put it to work instead. Dragon - a stainless-steel from China Cross-border Sculpture Factory. Whip courtesy of Dominatrix Madam Lash. Harnessing assistance by the Budweiser Clydesdales. Face supplied by Tom Cruise. |

Re: Challenge 1122: The sleigh ride
Excellent, Ben. My entry will also have a whip rather than a cutlass. Anyway, all images of St Michael that I have seen show him with a sword, not a cutlass. |

Re: Challenge 1122: The sleigh ride
Aside from his well known dragon slaying capabilities it is rather less well known that St Michael was frowned upon by some of the modern politically correct saints for ‘inappropriate and excessive use of child labour’. I do like to stick to the challenge image as much as possible, but the combination of the very crude sculpture together with over exposure where he is directly in the spotlight, made the quality just too poor. However I have tried to keep the feeling of a wood carving rather than go for realism _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 1122: The sleigh ride
You can see it! That was a test Ben. I can't see my own images here on Safari. It loads only a question mark where the image should be. Glad you can see it. If anyone else can see my image please let me know, and which browser you are using ......... even if you don't want to comment on the image. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
