Challenge 399: Match the scene
I photographed this London street on my iPhone recently, as I was very taken with the lighting in the street. As it happens, there was no-one in the street at the time.

Can you populate the scene? The hard part here will be making your contributions look as if they really belong in this scene: there's a very definite colour palette here, and the lighting is complex.

High res is here.

I tried to raise a bit of interest with advertising boards and new frontages but sadly only one chap came along - I think the weather was keeping people away

Re: Challenge 399: Match the scene
The diabolical level of my skills in PS gave me the idea for the subject.

This is my first go since buying the book last week

Re: Challenge 399: Match the scene
From one newbie to another I second Josephine’s sentiments by welcoming BRUMTAFFY to the forum. I notice you saved your image as a Tiff file which tend to be large files and is probably the reason you struggled to upload it correctly. The best option, which I only found out myself the other week from Steve (author of the book and our Grand Master), is to use the File > Save for web & devices option, you can then resize the image to around 600 -700 px wide for a normal landscape picture and use JPEG compression. If you want to create a link to an original large file on say Photobox or Flicker then put a hyperlink to it in the main body of the message.
Good luck
One last warning; IT CAN BECOME ADDICITVE!

Re: Challenge 399: Match the scene
Thanks Josephine and Ant

I can feel the stirring of a new obsession already

I'm used to posting images using Photobucket on astrophotography fora, so I'm not sure why that mechanism doesn't work here. I tried the suggested syntax too, as in the help menu, but still no joy. I'll try your jpg tip next and see if I can work it out.

A bientôt

I joined 6 years ago now, but my therapist says I'll get over it one day ... one day! I'm happy to say that, so far, he's wrong!

'Fraid I'm too busy to come out to play this week and, possibly, not much until the end of May.

The street looked sinister so enter a most famous villain and a warning spirit. Zoom in on the poster for the villain's identity.

Re: Challenge 399: Match the scene
Nothing fancy here, just tried to get lighting and shadows right. Also used the CS6 oil paint filter to give it a Edward Hopper look.
