Challenge 493: A night at the opera
I went to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, this week to see a rather splendid production of Don Giovanni. Our seats were in the second row, with a view of the orchestra. Of course, I wasn't allowed to film during the performance itself. Can you give me an idea of how it might have appeared once the curtain went up, the house lights went down and the conductor put in an appearance? High res is here. ![]() |

I think he has built a robot to do all the boring stuff for him - probably printed it out on the 3D printer ![]() _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Re: Challenge 493: A night at the opera
I had forgotten the conductor. It is not easy to find a picture of conductor on the web! I do not know how the colors will be on the site because I think my PC screen does not render correctly. I connected a second screen on my laptop and the two do not give the same thing. ![]() |

The London Evening Standard reported that there was a rather nasty altercation between the audience and the cast in a performance of Handel's Julius Caesar at the Royal Opera House last night. ![]() ![]() |

Re: Challenge 493: A night at the opera
I'm so glad that a couple of the later ones are clearly done in fun. I was afraid to post my version because I thought, as a newbie, I was unaware that opera was sacrosanct and if I posted this I would be banished from this forum. This one should be entitled "How Children View Opera." It should be noted that as an adult, I don't hold this opinion, but as a child, I certainly did. Again, it's not as good as some of the other ones. I'm still working on chapter 7. Oh, and I think I may have dated the French Horn player with the glasses back in 1998. ![]() |

Re: Challenge 493: A night at the opera
I always sit in the opera exactly on the same place from where you has taken the photo: in the first row, outside, on the left. If you don’t lean extremely forwards, you cannot see the conductor, but read the partitions… ![]() |
