Challenge 497: In the wild
I photographed this remarkable statue of an elephant outside the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. It's beautifully detailed: tied to a lump of masonry, it's being molested by a monkey.

It's a very realistic scene, apart from the fact that it's all made of dull bronze and is on a pedestal in Paris. Can you return both these beasts to the wild, and make them real?

High res is here.

Dramatic image, Frank.
This is another rush job unfortunately as I have no more time this week. Not entirely satisfied but I don't quite know what is wrong

Re: Challenge 497: In the wild
My main focus here was creating a detailed Photoshop realistic “elephant thick skin texture” instead of using the skin from another elephant.
The fun part was warping it onto the contour of the elephant statue with all the wrinkles and folds.
Lastly I colorized and added a background.

I've had a childhood song stuck in my head for six days now. I only hope this illustration will purge it from my brain.

Re: Challenge 497: In the wild
I woke up this morning with a nagging feeling that I had missed something. Sure enough when I checked Steve's instructions it said BOTH beasts. I added the baboon to this one. Actually, two because they live in groups.

I also woke up with a great idea for a funny entry. It would have been a circus scene. The elephant would have been holding up an obviously terrified spectator with the caption: "When he had purchased his ticket, Mr. Jenkins had wished he would get a great view of the circus." In the background the baboon would be dressed as a Gypsy fortune teller. Alas, I had no time to realize this vision!
