Challenge 702: Dali's bedroom
I spent last weekend with friends in northern Spain, and visited the house where Salvador Dali lived for most of his life. It was very entertaining, but I was surprised by how bourgeois his bedroom was - totally lacking in surrealism.

Can you give it the full Dali treatment?

High res is here.

Here's a quickie I put together after getting home from the golf course today...

Mural is Dali's Rock N Roll from 1944.

Beat me to it Lwc!

One of Dali's least known oeuvres is probably "Les Diners de Gala". It was was a sensual, sybaritic semi erotic cookbook illustrated by Dali with recipes from anonymous chefs - supposedly from La Tour D'Argent and Maxim's.

Published just once by him in 1973 it was recently re-published by Taschen who had this to say about it:

"Ever heard of surrealist fine dining? This must-have reprint of 'Les diners de Gala' reveals the exotic flavors and elaborate imaginings behind the legendary dinner parties of Salvador and Gala Dalí. With recipes from such leading Paris restaurants as La Tour d’Argent and Maxim’s, a special section on aphrodisia, and bespoke illustrations from Dalí himself, this book is at once an artwork, a practical cookbook, and a delicious morsel of multisensory pleasure."

All the Dali images I have used here come from this one unusual source .......

That bedhead is the very first thing I noticed and quickly thought... I'm not doin' that!!

My laziness prevailed again.

You did a great job though David.

Anna, you must have been in 7th heaven with this one!

Here is my attempt at a Dali-est painting. Not as successful as I had hoped.

I couldn't resist this one, All but the 'Master' himself, my own photographs from 2011. Taken at Port Lligat, Figueres and Pūbel.

Actually, I think the stuffed kid goat or rabbit or whatever it is, is facing the other direction.

Thank you Loyd. The lobster phone now lives in the National Gallery of Australia. I saw it some years ago when I was in Canberra.

My eyes are sore, my head is throbbing trying to keep check of all the surreal strangeness. I don't care to look for any more mistakes. Art like this just goes on and on.

Nice images everybody.

Good work everyone. Sorry not to be able to come out to play this week as things have been a bit surreal around here lately.

Interesting well done entries. Surreal Dwindt!
This was not my intention, it was going to take a different more surreal path, but no time for a 2nd one now, missed the chance . Another day.

Gala (girl looking out of a window), Dali and ......?

Re: Challenge 702: Dali's bedroom
Very nice, Michael, dwindt and Trevor. Much better than my attempt.

I'm afraid my animation is disappointing too. I wanted to have the spheres subtly move as if floating on a breeze. However, I spent all my time getting all those limbs to move and they don't work like reality. But then, this is supposed to be surreal. I really need a way to afford not to have to spend so much time earning the rent and doing mundane tasks like laundry, shopping, and cooking.
