Challenge 812: The fisherman's hut
I passed this fine old fisherman's hut on the East coast of Suffolk a few weeks ago. Ugly plastic containers aside, it's a rather splendid building. I wonder what the fisherman keeps in there. High res is here. ![]() |

Maybe it's a roost for shorebirds... or just a shortcut. ![]() |

LAURENCE AND JACKIE LLEWELYN-BOWEN INVITE YOU TO THEIR SEASIDE RETREAT
For those of you in the US and elsewhere, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen was a rather fey self styled interior designer who hosted a British TV makeover show in the late 'nineties called "Changing Rooms". His style was notable for simplistic stencils, baby colours and cheap, camp, kitsch accessories ...................................... Miaow! How he came to be regarded by the British as a design Guru is an imponderable that still defeats many fine minds ......... MIAOW!! He has a wife, Jackie, to match ............................................................................................................................ Re: Challenge 812: The fisherman's hut
To be honest I scarcely noticed. So much going on!! But I was a little baffled by the bird. Given the size of the pilot of the second boat and the fact that the bird passes behind him it must be positively Jurassic!! ![]() ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Well spotted David, and thanks. I have now corrected it by putting the flying swan in the top layers. ![]() |

I know we were supposed to look inside the hut, but I couldn't find the key to the padlock. ![]() ![]() _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

My attempt but not happy with the tricky door shadow. Nick ![]() |

Re: Challenge 812: The fisherman's hut
I think it's pretty close. But I believe there should be a small wedge of shadow on the closed door as well as on the ground. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

She's a fine looking woman,David. I find placing a few ladies about the image can add interest to an otherwise bland offering. ![]() |

Re: Challenge 812: The fisherman's hut
http://www.historyofsydney.com.au/fisherman-huts-crater-cove/ Not far from where I live is around 6 or 7 little ramshackle fishermen's huts, tucked away from civilisation, that were initially built during the Great Depression and then more came along in the 1960s. I have visited these huts on several occasions and the one hour trek from the top of the headland to the huts is quite difficult, involving some rock climbing, bush bashing and mud sliding, however the reward is spectacular. An opportunity to step back in time and visit each hut and imagine what life would've been like for the small community that called these huts, home. No one lives there now and they are protected by National Parks and Wildlife. I've used some of my own photos for this challenge. ![]() _________________ Wicked Witch of the West:I'll get you, my pretty! And your little dog, too! |
