Challenge 853: A mammoth task
On my trip to France last year I visited the Paleosite, a reconstruction of a stoneage village - and very fine it was too. Among the many buildings and recreations was this mammoth's graveyard, which contained more than a dozen artfully crafted corpses. There's something not quite realistic about this scene, though. Is it the mammoths themselves? Or the weather? Or the neatly mown grass? I'll let you figure it out. High res is here.  |

If Dave is Ok with it we could invite other forum members to make funny one-liners with this this entry. Anyway,, here is mine:
They are saying "The abattoir down the road is up to its old tricks again!" PS I couldn't find the talk bubbles in CS21 Michael the two images are new and can be found in the reader's gallery .

No problems with me. It wasn't intended as an entry in the proper sense of the word. Just silliness.

I have to confess to being horribly uninspired by these really second rate looking models. So this is my best effort unless I can think of something else during the week. From Wikipedia: The folklore of some native peoples of Siberia, who would routinely find mammoth bones, and sometimes frozen mammoth bodies, in eroding river banks, had various interesting explanations for these finds. Among the Khanty people of the Irtysh River basin, a belief existed that the mammoth was some kind of a water spirit. According to other Khanty, the mammoth was a creature that lived underground, burrowing its tunnels as it went, and would die if it accidentally came to the surface. Here a rockfall has brought the surface and sunshine to the poor creature in his tunnel. A Siberian Shaman is helping to ensure a safe passage to the next world. I was about three quarters finished with last weeks challenge but couldn't complete it due to a recurring shoulder problem...so the idea occurred to me that it could work well (?) incorporated with this week's challenge. I know the size of the mammoth is unrealistic in comparison to the man..but let's overlook it 
Loyd, is that the Duke of Edinburgh's custom designed Defender going along the back there ?

Hope your problem clears up soon. Those sort of things can be so debilitating. Love the combo. Very clever and it works for both challenges perfectly. Lovely landscaping and somehow this gives justification and credibility to the dreadful models. David, in CS21 to get back all the legacy shapes such as arrows and 10 types of talk bubbles etc, simply go to Windows on the main menu then scroll down to Shapes and click on it. You will then notice nothing has happened, but not to worry (like I did!): click and drag the Layers panel to the left to reveal all the legacy shapes HIDING under the Layers panel. after which you follow instructions to append the bloody lot to shapes. Incidentally, I run ALL features and tools etc on Legacy. I haven't the energy to go on what arrogant b*stards they are at Photoshop. Oh yes, David do me the favour of putting all that rotting detritus into a skip there's a good chap.
My Mammoths are going to be alive and well: cautiously optimistic that this is going to be a good un. Anna sorry about your shoulder (we OAPs have to take care of ourselves as we get older); however, your entry has caused me an injury, and I blame you. I was watching your astonishing video, when my jaw dropped! Now I can't close it.

My palettes are arranged differently to you but following the latter part of your directions I did indeed find speech bubbles! My working style doesn't really call for shapes much so I never knew they were there. Thanks! I also use quite a bit of legacy. Swatches for example. I am not convinced that all the 'improvements' necessarily are.
