Challenge 915: Chocolate Parliament
The UK political scene is in turmoil this week, with Boris Johnson resigning as leader of the Conservative Party but refusing to quit as Prime Minister - although the situation may well have changed by the time you read this.

With Parliament in meltdown, this seems a good opportunity to wheel out this chocolate Big Ben I photographed in the window of a chocolate shop back in April.

Can you apply some heat to this confection?

High res is here.

In the spirit of the brief, even if not to the letter.

Somehow feel I haven't quite pulled this off ....... but it's still fun.

Good start David.

Am in Scotland at the moment but I do want to have a bash at this one. Won’t be finished until late Thursday though

If I was unsure about the last, I am not about this one. This is about as bad as my photoshopping ever gets, but getting it wrong took quite a lot of time so I'm posting anyway.

Much of this unlikely to mean much to non Brits, including perhaps the famous tin.

Thank you Michael.

I thought you might say I was self deprecating again.

But, truly, Chocolate Contenders is a fun idea but lousy Photoshop. It seemed like a great idea at the time and I am perfectly capable of doing it justice but, once I started on the individual wrappers, I realised it would take far, far more work than I was prepared to put in.

So I stopped .....

Not deprecation ..... laziness.

Pick your evil ............

The Quality Street tin is beautifully done, David. I don't recognise the faces however the Ferrero Rocher chocolate belongs to the Nutella family

This challenge was much harder than I initially thought. I'm not thrilled with it but here it is.

Great fun Anna. The melting is not an easy thing to animate I am sure. I found melting Boris just as a still frame hard enough.

BTW I know the Rocher was wrong but, truth to tell, none of the sweets shown come from the Quality Street Family - they are all pixel squid!

After just one day since Nestlé's Contenders hit the shelves there are already two more flavours!

Re: Challenge 915: Chocolate Parliament
Nice attempt Anna

With the combination of the very hot weather we having here in the south UK, and not liking this challenge, I submit a "below-par" entry

The general idea was to create an illusion of Parliament melting like chocolate cake!

Re: Challenge 915: Chocolate Parliament
It looks more squidged than melted. But in all fairness Michael this must be very hard to animate at all, let alone in the incredibly economic frame counts you attempt. I think you have got it as good as you ever could without a far, far greater frame count.

Some fun political ones David and Frank and I take my hat off to anyone who animates melting chocolate.
My offerening for this week is entitled "Not waving but drowning or Up the creek without a paddle"

Thanks Josephine and I love the "Up ____ Creek Without a Paddle". Never thought of that immersing him in a sea of errr "chocolate".

Re: Challenge 915: Chocolate Parliament
Yes! What Frank said!

Of course, as a dedicated and detached visual artist, I do hope we are not letting any personal feelings or bias intrude upon our portrayals of a prime minister who, as he reminded his nation upon his exit, was elected with a massive public mandate which he feels duty bound to respect to the very last moment.

Nice job every body. I'm going to be absent from the challenges until either I learn Unreal or it proves too much for me. Good hope to all and stay healthy.
