Loyd, all your entries this week, and most other weeks, are outstanding.

Re: Challenge 918: Summer holiday
Michael for two frames that is extraordinary!

What I really find really fun is that you have used a different quad, a different head for Steve, a different body and arm pose but almost the same shirt differently buttoned!

Re: Challenge 918: Summer holiday
The move around Steve at the end of the animation is dead sneaky ... and works!

Love the Mad Max. The minute I saw it I thought "Now why on earth didn't I think of that?!"

Re: Challenge 918: Summer holiday
In search of ever new thrills Steve takes to an alternative universe where he rides the infamous "Quad Bender" folded loop.

The tricky part of this challenge was not Steve and his quad but the creation of the impossible solid. Persuading my very literal minded 3D software to produce a shape that cannot actually exist in true 3D space took a bit of head bending.

A cross section taken anywhere on the loop upon which Steve is riding will be square with four sides. At first glance, therefore, the figure could be presumed to have four sides. This not in fact the case. It is a three dimensional triple twist Möbius strip with one single surface that changes it's orientation on the corners. Steve will ride in an endless loop and by the time he returns to his point of departure he will have travelled the entire surface on all four 'sides'.

This particular Möbius figure is geometrically and topologically analogous to the well known Penrose impossible triangle.

But you knew all that anyway ...... didn't you .............?

Michael, that song was written with this challenge in mind

Re: Challenge 918: Summer holiday
This not strictly relevant except to my own previous post. It's another way of showing how Steve rides a single path covering the whole of the möbius loop on all of its 'sides'.

I'm not suggesting that you need it ...... it was more of a challenge to myself to see it I could wrap my own head around it enough to draw it. It's not quite as simple and easy as it looks.

So having done it, it seemed silly not to post.

Re: Challenge 918: Summer holiday
David! Quite simply wonderful! I'm quite sure that the rest of the forum and the "part time Frenchman" would be more than happy to consider that as a legitimate entry.

I'm giving you the Gold Star

This one will have to last you three weeks - I'm back on the 14th August and will write it up then. In the meantime, if you get Photoshop withdrawal then feel free to revisit any earlier Friday Challenges

I am glad you wrote that, Steve, otherwise I would have had to book into rehab.

Contest 49: Finish the job
I've been at the woodword again. For the last couple of weekends I've been building my kids a treehouse: it's a triangular affair, with a platform over on the left to which I'll eventually add a rope bridge to another tree. The platform's finished, but I can't decide what to build on top of it. Can you give me some inspiration?

Contest 140: Joe and the Prince
My son Joe met Prince Charles this week, and I got this photo of the event. Trouble is, the back of his classmate's head is in the way, and there's a ghastly background.
Can we make him something rather more splendid to suit the occasion?
