Challenge 935: Ballroom climbing
I took my mother in law to Coventry last weekend, a city from which she was evacuated in 1941 when the bombs started falling. A fascinating city, and the one where Lady Godiva famously rode naked through the streets in the 11th century. A few stores in the city are named after her, and I found this one amusing: ![]() You can clearly see the suit they made for Lord Godiva on the left, and the one for Lady Godiva on the right. But that's not the theme of this week's Challenge, unless you want it to be (and if you do, please show restraint). As we walked through the streets that evening we came across The Ballroom Climbing Wall. I'd love to know what goes on inside. High res is here, if you want to use it. ![]() |

http://vimeo.com/779787533 Something very quick with Lady Godiva. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to do the ballroom during the week. HAHA David! the face on the guy with the burgundy body suit is priceless. He takes it all so seriously. ![]() _________________ Wicked Witch of the West: I'm melting! I'm melting! |

Re: Challenge 935: Ballroom climbing
There's something very odd about your lady Frank. She appears to be made of two separate parts. Am I imagining things? You managed a far, far better background clean up than me. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 935: Ballroom climbing
This attempt was NOT fun. I have signally failed to pull it off properly. The difficulty of trying to find suitable views and poses was pretty daunting and took a long time. Even then, the ones I found after a lot of searching look 'stuck on'. Part of the problem is, of course, the sheer improbability makes it 'fake' regardless of technique. Normally I would be tempted to bin this without posting, but I'm posting anyway because I am curious to see if anyone else is foolhardy enough to attempt the literal minded approach. ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

I think you're imaging things David - she is indeed one nice piece. Your background looks good to me - I did a little dodging and burning. |

Re: Challenge 935: Ballroom climbing
At the risk of offending any devotees that's what breaks me up every time. They all do!! I remember when I was a youngster sequinned ball gowns were all the rage and the TV competition commentaries were full of "Amelie's mother stitched the two thousand sequins by hand!". It's an activity and passion I am afraid I fail to appreciate. I don't know if it's available on Netflix or similar but there is a hysterically wonderful Aussie film from the 'nineties called "Strictly Ballroom" which takes a wonderful 'sideways' look at it. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 935: Ballroom climbing
David, that's an admiral scene. I couldn't image searching for that many figures, let alone manipulating then to sync with the background. Well done. You know what I would do...DAZ...lol. I'm reluctant to participate. Steve, ban me already. My mind is running away with me. I could hear my best friends late father saying "Oh *alls!" He would ball that out whenever we talked nonsense. Oh, my best friend has passed away too. Are we getting old? _________________ The grass is greener on the other side of the fence because there is more $hit there. |

Re: Challenge 935: Ballroom climbing
Ahh David, a brave attempt but the problem with your own entry is that it is neither here nor there, and it's also a little abstract. Two possible fixes: 1. zoom in close to a dancing couple so that only part of the climbing wall is visible, and capture their terror or anxiety as they try to navigate/negotiate the climbing wall. ...And 2. Have the ballroom couple climbing a precipitous rock face...or abseiling down a rock face. ![]() PS: On this occasion, you can use as much self-deprecation as you like for the original entry. ![]() |

Loyd ![]() ![]() ![]() Anna nice work, but she's not mounted. ![]() Animations (28 frames) are really time-consuming especially if you have the bad habit of Merging Visible. ![]() UPDATED ![]() |
