Challenge 936: The Christmas Market
Wandering around the streets of Coventry in the early morning I came across this row of mocked-up log cabins that form part of the city's Christmas Market.

Maybe it looks more festive when the stalls are open?

High res is here.

______________

That's it from me for this year. Happy Christmas, everyone, and I look forward to seeing you all in January.

Very pushed for time this week so a not very challenging quickie well within my comfort zone.

What a fun idea! Love it. "Proverbs" I think?

Lovely scene David and Josephine, in a strange way that really appeals to me. I love it.

Don't cross out my Christ! Merry Christmas everyone.

Brilliant David! It's academic if it's a "quickie" or not: it checks all the boxes, so very, very nicely done David.

What a clever and inventive entry Josephine--well done indeed!

Re: Challenge 936: The Christmas Market
Back in the 70’s, despite failing woodwork at school, I built The Shack high on a hill overlooking Whittlesea, Melbourne and sometimes, above the clouds. For the next 30+ years it was my Fortress of Solitude, Think Tank, family home away from home, a place to run away to, a place to entertain overseas suppliers with an Aussie BBQ with all the flora & fauna (roos, eagles, cockatoos, parrots, wombats, possums & maybe a black panther). The fire of 2009 took it away. The block is still there to enjoy, the Shack just a memory, that I’m sharing this Christmas. Best wishes to you & yours.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments.

Is this based on a photo of the real shack Ben? It looks great!

Yes David, that's the real shack, in the spot where I built it. In later years it grew to 2 stories, 4 rooms, solar power, indoor shower.

You are far too modest David. You really did well and I especially like the light and shadowing effects.

Very good, Josephine. Bruegel the Elder revisited.

David, I just had a much closer look at your image. I agree with Frank & the 2 Michaels. Outstanding image.

Mariner, Ben thank you.

I should perhaps point out, to all of you who have made compliments, that this particular type of challenge comes very easily to me as it is simply an extension of over fifty years of lighting movie sets. It's pretty instinctive and natural and what I can always fall back on when pushed for time or simply too lazy to try harder.

You really can tell David. The lighting is beautiful. Not only that but it's a warm, jolly image. Lovely.
