Challenge 974: Heavy metal
I recently visited the British Ironwork Centre in Shropshire, which houses a collection of literally hundreds of life-size (and larger) animals made entirely out of iron. (Yes, Mariner, another museum, but at least this one's mainly outdoors. And I believe it's in your neck of the woods?)

Among the many exhibits was this spectacular dragon, which was built to celebrate the recent coronation, the three heads representing – according to the notice – our past, present and future.

I'd love to see this glorious beast untethered from the ground. Or if that's too much of a fiddle, you could work with the gorilla instead.

High res dragon is here.

High res gorilla is here.

Yes, Steve, it's about 3 miles from my home.

Well that's quick. Seems you and I have used the same basic arrangement. It does sort of beg for it ..........

Re: Challenge 974: Heavy metal
BTW I tried untethering but the legs looked completely wrong and awkward for flight. I tried moving and warping them to bet a better flying position but it didn't really work.

Re: Challenge 974: Heavy metal

Wing flapping doesn't work that well and the 'loop' is a bit dodgy, but it is an entry...

Re: Challenge 974: Heavy metal
The maze is a really nice touch. The sliding wings are a bit odd.

I have just started a flu-like virus, and this is all I can do (oh the art of coming up with a good albeit genuine excuse )

Like the bronzing Michael .... and a very splendid new pair of wings too!

Thats a big step forward from your previous flyer Loyd. You've managed to deal withe 'standing' legs really well! Fun idea too.

Re: Challenge 974: Heavy metal
Getting this rather rigid, obviously standing, fellow into the air plausibly was quite an interesting challenge in itself. I think this works reasonably well.

Re: Challenge 974: Heavy metal
Yes! that's well-executed David. Nicely polished too: better than the earlier "neither here nor there" rendition.

I presume the beautiful damsel is going to attempt to stab the three-headed critter in the grillocks with the dagger.
