Challenge 1107: Yo ho ho
This week's Challenge image comes courtesy of GKB who offered this comment: Saw this pirate sculpture in a park in Yerevan, Armenia. He has two parrots on his shoulders, two peg legs, two hooks and two eye patches along with a barrel of rum. Suggest giving him back at least one hand, leg and eye with some more colourful clothes in a more piratey setting? Alternatively, it would be interesting to (after replacement of the duplicated accoutrements) to make a background that matches the sculpture. Your choice. High res is here.
NOTE: I published this on my iPad at the airport this morning and forgot to make it Sticky. That’s why it couldn’t be found. Sorry. |

FOR DENNIS!
This isn't really up for critique Steve. I'm just having a little leg pull. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

This is a very odd statue with its lateral symmetry. Perhaps he is meant to feel at home on symmetrical ships. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

According to Googla AI: "The Monument to the pirate John Silver in Yerevan features two swords, two wooden legs, and two eyepatches as a playful representation of the character's legendary status and adventurous persona from Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island." This design emphasizes his iconic traits, making the monument a whimsical tribute to pirate lore." For those not familiar with the story this video is based around the adventures of a cartoon pirate called Captain Pugwash and his crew sailing in The Black Pig. Pugwash first appeared as a comic strip in a boys’ comic called The Eagle in 1950. It later became an animated series on the BBC and spawned a series of books. http://vimeo.com/1197012989?fl=tl&fe=ec

Thought I'd PS his pose. Ah, and I missed a triangle of sky. Oh well.

Very good movie Gordon. The seagulls need to flap a little bit. Beautiful work Frank. |
